Additional LED lamps

Could anyone tell me where I could buy reasonable quality LED lamps (such as is fitted to GS bikes) that don't cost £200 - £300? I have seen plenty on eBay but they look very inferior and a waste of good money. Then I look on the usual sites around the net and I need to take out a mortgage. Any help...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

Well, its gone to Poland. I had three Polish guys arguing about who was going to buy it and got the £1000 I wanted in the end. An non english speaking guy turned up last night (said he would be here at 8pm) and arrived at 11pm! I was annoyed and quite wary, but all came good in the end. To be honest...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

That's great. I might take you up on the offer of the meet as I will be up there that week anyway. I could always follow the family on the bike (whatever that may be). I might just stick around on the website. I'll definitely update you regarding Moffat. Might stop for a burger at the Buccleuch Hote...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

Thanks Galactic, in fact thanks to everyone. Got to say, bobbed in here just to 'use' your forum and I suppose, share my experience. Felt a bit cheeky really. I can see that you are a great bunch. Thanks for the support, information and well wishes. Much appreciated. BTW I have only just noticed whe...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

SteveD. Thanks very much for that info. When you google K1200R engine failure it brings up hardly anything at all, however after searching the issue you raise, it would appear that there is a lot of chat about it. Now you come to mention it, it was rattly at high revs which I simply put down to a ch...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

I've relisted it finally as a classified ad. Took me all afternoon. Another guy made contact by phone from the Netherlands. He wanted me to wait in for 'his mate Geoff from Kent'. KENT? I'm in Wigan. It all got a bit silly. The reason he wanted a scan of the V5 is that he wants the engine, frame and...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

I give up.

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

Just to add insult to injury, within 2 minutes of listing the bike at £1000 with a best offer, I'm offered £700. We agree finally on £800 and he suddenly wants to make arrangements for a courier to collect. The bike is being exported abroad, ASAP. All he needs now is a scan of the V5. Are these peop...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

I have Tony. Unfortunately they say that they have shelves full of them and can't take any more. Neither can I come to think of it! ](*,) I have just wheeled it out of the garage to take some photos for eBay. Its a bloody sin. The bike is immaculate. Here is the listing. I will take less than a gran...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

No help but I had a Honda VF1000 from very near new (1987 purchase of a 1986 bike) and at 18,000 miles with full dealer service history it started to shed the case hardening from the camshafts...... I had no idea it was happening until a chunk of the material jammed up the oil pressure relief valve...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

Thanks Galactic/Tony. Yes, I have been weighing up all those options and had seen the post regarding the 1300. I contacted BMW directly as the bike has a full BMW service history bar the last (2000 miles ago). They point blank refuse to engage with me. Would that still have been the case if the bike...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

Hopefully the file should have been added and you will be able to view it. It has taken me a while to upload it. Sorry about the quality, I have had to reduce it considerably. It looks like it has damaged both the sump and the block casing and I agree that there is an underlying issue that may have ...

Re: K1200R Sport Conrod

Thanks everyone. If truth be told I was nearer 90 mph at the time and it was very scary. All I keep thinking about is how lucky I was that the shaft didn't lock up and throw me off. In the outside lane, it doesn't bear thinking about what would have happened if I had come off. Really confused at the...

K1200R Sport Conrod

Dear All. Probably one of the worst days of my motorcycling life on Friday when the conrod came though the crankcase of my block. I was travelling along the M6 at a little over 70 mph when I heard a loud bang followed by a loss of power and plumes of blue smoke at the rear. It appears that the big e...
