Re: Motorcycling generation.

Yes,when I took my test the examiner just got me to ride three times round the block. Got me to ride at walking pace and an emergency stop. A few questions on the highway code and that was it I rode a Honda CB200 then and then went on to ride bikes for years,I didn't even bother taking my car test u...

Re: Motorcycling generation.

I don't think it's to do with the 1960s because the under 35s were not even born then. In fact the idea of motorcycle riding being rebellious was one of the attractions to me. Possibly being seen as different is not as important to millenials ?

Motorcycling generation.

I only returned to motorcycling a few years ago, after a ten year hiatus. Before that I rode for practical reasons, commuting mainly, the wife had the car which she shared and we didn't want to be a two car family. My father's generation tended to ride motorcycles,as a prequel to car ownership and kne...

Re: Which K should I buy?

He says it's very comfy on the back. He couldn't mount the S because of the panniers. This ones got heated seats !
I will put some photos on at a later date.

Re: Which K should I buy?

I have put a deposit down on the GT its not as a good deal as the S was but in my opinion a more practical. It's in excellent condition and has a full BMW service record.

Re: Which K should I buy?

Thank you very much for the advice.£350 for piece of mind is probably worth it. It's not to bad budgeting for a service, although an unexpected bill of say £500 is hard to swallow. I think the main problem would be diagnosing the problem in the first place.

Re: Which K should I buy?

Does it need to be serviced at a BMW dealer for that extended warranty. I can't believe 3000 miles is considered high mileage. My cars done that in less than three years. These are touring bikes! It wouldn't bother me paying out for a new rear suspension in a year I can budget for that. Am I right i...

Re: Which K should I buy?

The decision is a bit easier now. The S is sold and I prefer the GTs anyway. I have been doing some searching on here and there does seem to be a question mark over reliability. I will be asking a few questions myself tomorrow. Still it is a lovely bike and very comfy. It seems a lot of bike for the ...

Re: Which K should I buy?

Thanks for the advice milleplod. It's just that these bikes have come up local that they have caught my attention. It sounds like all these gizmos that give the problems. My old R100RS never let me down despite it being 20 years old at the time. It did leak oil though. What price progress ?

Re: Which K should I buy?

I would get a better deal on the S,but there's only £300 in it. The GT is more comfortable and is easier for my passenger to mount. The GT has cavernous top box and pannniers, heated seats, cruise control and loads of other goodies. They both share the same engine, but in different states of tune. I th...

Extended warranty? These bikes are 8 years old. How much does it cost? How reliable are these bikes?

Which K should I buy?

Hello I'm New here and thinking of buying a second-hand BMW.The two bikes I'm looking at are a 09 K1300 GT or a 2010 K1300S both bikes have 30,000 miles on them. Both bikes are local to me.The bikes are both priced about the same, although I can get a better deal on the S. I'm 57 years old recently wi...

Re: Lincolnshire lad.

The two BMs I've got my eyes on are a K1300 GT with 30,000 miles on and a K1300S also with 30,000 miles on. Both bikes are in excellent condition,BMWs tend to be well cared for, both bikes are from local dealers.
I will open a new thread asking for advice about these bikes.

Lincolnshire lad.

Hello,I'm new here please be gentle. At the moment I ride a Kawasaki 650 ninja a nice bike, nimble on it's tyres, and a general competent motorcycle. However I fancy doing some two up touring with my 13 year old son and have my eyes on a couple of BMWs selling . Although this won't be my first BMW,I p...
