Re: Stainless steel exhaust systems on airheads

Just to add to IanB's reply. Yes, the mono's had stainless silencers BUT it was purely cosmetic and the internals were still mild steel.

If it's only a slight weep then no, I wouldn't worry too much.

Re: Weeping Cylinder Base

No, the head gasket goes between the cylinder barrel and the head, A slight weep from the base isn't unusual as there is no gasket there. It's worth carefully smearing silicone around the base and then fastening it down as quickly as you can but don't get it in the top stud holes or you could block ...

Re: Weeping Cylinder Base

I think you need to be a little clearer. Are you talking of a leak at the cylinder base or the head gasket? Or is it both.

Assuming it's in neutral then you have the beginnings of bearing failure at the input end of the output shaft.

Call them and ask them. They'll simply check the latest listing and tell you if it's still available from the factory.

And just for my favourite lovely young lady here's the snow!!! Haven't had time to make it pink tho.

I'm guessing you won't see the real stuff this year - was 20C in Lisbon and if I'd had my driving license I'd have abandoned ship and come up for a xmas visit... :smt114 :smt049 :smt049

Re: Site Snow

Just got back this afternoon.. Wasn't sorry to miss all the snow but was very sorry to not get the chance to see my woods with a virgin layer of snow. Phil is right tho - it's not been installed but that may be just that I forgot. I'll get a look tonight or tomorrow and see if there is a current one...

Re: R65 on the Road Again....issues?

One has simply been set 180 degrees out - they run like crap when that done.

The outer side of the brass spindle has a punch mark and that should point to the cable.

Re: Side Stand Switch

If your Neutral Light does not come on immediately when you are in Neutral then the Neutral Switch at the back of the Gearbox is faulty
Not necessarily, Ced. A far more common cause is that the gearbox oil hasn't been changed for a fair time - the oil gets thick and slows it all down.

Re: Relocating the Choke Lever

I think they also do a plunger type lever adapter for each carb, though I have never seen them on a bike
Simple and effective. I've used homemade one for the last 25 years - short piece of universal car choke cable and a solderless nipple
