Brakes

Well, it's happened. Out today and lost braking, red triangle showing and brake failure flashing around 4 times a second. They came back then went, sounds like the servo( whizzy sound.) was on partially all the time. Got home and after turning off then starting again it goes through the self check o...

Re: fuel strip

Job done today courtesy of Chester MOTORRAD. However the part only carries the remainder of the failed parts guarantee. BMW's policy. Apparantly they give a 12 year warranty in the States! Some feed back, many of the failures are when the bikes been standing unused for a long time, which mine had. B...

Re: fuel strip

Hi Ced, there will be no cost to myself. Also with Chester taking it on it saves me a days trip to Manchester. Shame they can't retro fit the old float system eh? They had an 1100 rt in there today, sold. Immaculate and only a couple of 1000 on it.

Re: fuel strip

Shouldn't have said anything!! Display shows zero and flashing with an amber light. It's gone again😡 Dropped into Chester Mottrad to confirm it. Although it was replaced in Manchester, they are happy to carry out the job as the two year warranty doesn't finish till Nov 17. Saves me a trip over to Ma...

Re: fuel strip

Hi, mines a 2005'rt and the fuel strip failed last year. Williams in Manchester replaced it, £170 if I remember correctly and two years warranty, there is a thread on a self fix but I'm not sure how long the repair lasted.

Re: How bad is a bad life of an 1150RT

Hi Mike, I had a 2001 model which had 25000 on the clock when I got it. Non of the above problems and it was as good when I let it go and moved on to a 1200 rt. I wonder if it had been stood outside with the plastics off for a while? Also wonder about the mileage being accurate with so much wear in ...

Re: Flat battery

Hi Mike, the early R1150 RT sometimes had an issue with the wiring harness being tied too tightly to the frame and it used to crack giving an intermittent fault. It may be worth checking in case its there your getting a short. If I remember rightly the problem was under the front of the tank.

Dash Cam

Hi, can anyone recommend an entry level dash cam? Thinking of the car at the moment rather than the bike. But if there is one that could be used on both it would be good to know about it too. Thanks.

Same here, badly scratched mine and had it done locally for around £90. It has a laquer coat as well as the paint.

Thanks for the heads up Patrick. We bought the Nolan 90 4 years back along with the blue tooth intercom set. Never had an issue. Cant believe it actually says not to get the newer versions wet?! We wont renew them without a careful look at the info. Good to hear that Helmet city paid up, good for th...
