k 1200 rs "R" reg UK

Postby daveymac55 » Tue Mar 20, 2018 9:13 am

Hello fellow riders, I have tried, without any luck, to get some wind deflectors/hand guard type things for my bike, did read some where that it maybe possible to fit fairing extensions to have the same effect, ie deflect the bitterly cold winds up here away from my poor old fingers! I'm putting heated grips on her later this week which will help, but keen to find out about these extensions that are out there, somewhere. Probably designed for a different model BM, but I'm sure with some duct tape, 6" nails and a big hammer I can "adapt" them to suit  thanks for reading.

The GT used the same fairing with extended sections at the front and sides, I have seen these fitted to the RS, but couldn't say how effective they are for your hands.

On my FJR I fitted a set of fairly cheap universal hand guards from eBay, fixed at the bar end and with a home made bracket to the lever. They worked ok for me, but not as good as handlebar puffs, which do nothing for street cred, but keep hands toasty.

Hello Mike, thanks for that, not very keen on handlebar puffs to be honest, almost feel like I am tied to the bars. What is the GT model you mention? I'm not familiar with all the various BM models, as yet, cheers.

There was a GT version of the RS, but that was based on a later version, which had a different fairing arranement around the headlamp/indicators etc.
