SECDEM Screen

Postby SPJ » Tue Aug 15, 2017 10:02 pm

Gents, Ladies, Boys & Girls, Sorry to be a bore but found out that the screen I lied is a Parabellum and some BMW owners are not at all happy with the mounting system. SECDEM tinted looks good on an old R80RT. Is there anyone out there with experience of one?

Never heard of them.
I just ran a search on the most active French airhead forum and came up with nada.

Charlie Victor, Thanks. Take a look at https://www.webike.co.uk/products/21340833.html. It looks just what I want but is it any good is the question of course.

I'm confused. Secdem £216, Motorworks £72 - 138. No contest

Point taken. Are you saying that they are the same in terms of thickness, design and tint? Any experience with Motorworks ones?

The BMW Original Equipment screen(£261) Is more expensive than the Secdem (£216). The after market screens sold by Motorworks are £72. My 1979 R80/7 (TIC) is fitted with an original screen which is cracked and about to be swapped for an after market (cheaper) screen. Both screens look very similar in shape and thickness (4mm) to the Secdem and the Motorworks light tint also looks similar to the Secdem tint so I can't really justify the huge price difference.
As far as differences in performance is concerned, that is an unknown. If you ask six riders about their experience with a screen, you are likely to get six different opinions although due to the very similar shape and design, they are likely to perform in a very similar fashion with the same pros and the same cons.
I can't imagine the Secdem being almost 150 quid better than the after market ones any more than I can imagine my Corbin seat being 200 quid better than my pattern comfort seat.
Ian.

Ian, indeed and I just wrote to Motobins having realized that their aftermarket screens are SECDEM. Damien answered that he has no reports on them having sold them for years and has had no complaints or returns. £79 to £126. Do you know anything about CM Seats Coventry?

I've heard of CM Seats but have never seen their work other than in photos nor do I know of anyone who has bought their seats so can't really comment. They certainly can't be any worse than Corbin who have earned a dreadful reputation. I'm very happy with my Corbin Gunfighter seat, but then, I got it as part of a job lot for a tenner. Don't know that I would have paid $473 for it though!

Yes, for £10 I can understand it (Corbin). Just heard from Philippe of SECDEM and after motobins have said that they haven't and complaints I am ordering a reduced height smoke grey screen for €144. I wont be home to fit it until Christmas and I expect to be the first to comment on it. I thought Corbin was one of the Dog's Bollox seats. You live and learn.
