R 90S clock

Postby Rob H » Sun Sep 03, 2017 8:16 am

Anyone have current information on fixing the early white faced clocks mine has stopped working.
Are these still considered not capable of being repaired/restored other than replacing the mechanism with the later quartz?
Any info much appreciated

Hi Rob,

Put the clock across a 12v battery to make sure it is the clock which has failed and not the wiring to it.

Ironic. Not having seen this revived posting I phoned them yesterday and asked about the 90/S clock. They cannot repair it.

Thanks Chas. My 75/5 needs the speedo/rev counter overhauling. I was told they were good but they are very expensive. £450. I also have a R90S time clock that needs repair.

hi tony
the watchmaker will not be interested in the speedo/rev counter

he just may agree to fix the clock, he does watches and does not normally fix clocks, but i will try to tell him it is just a big watch

I know this might sound a bit of a long shot but I have heard that some people have had some success with re-polarising the clock, especially on one that have been unused for a while.
Easy to do and perhaps worth a try.

Terry Vria (?) comes well recommended, but he is based in the US. I seem to remember that the clock has a resistor in the circuit which often burns out and can be replaced.

SMeyr in Germany have various new /5 speedos available, pattern ones for around 300 euros, NOS are more expensive. May depend on which ratio you want

I have bought lots of parts for my R50 from Meyers, seems to be good stuff.

Looks better value than getting overhauled

tried the guage site as well, immediate response saying he does not have any spares for the R90S clock.
I have used a watchmaker before (10 years ago) I will look through my files.
