I found a good Airhead specialist near Lichfield!

Postby Memphis Twin » Sun Sep 03, 2017 12:19 pm

Hi all,
My R65 Mono (with Siebenrock 860cc conversion) had a very rattly camchain. I was looking for someone to change the camchain, tensioner etc. as I didn't have the confidence or inclination to do it myself. Mechanics around here willing to work on Airheads are non-existent, so when I saw the advert in Classic Bike Guide for "Flat Twins Ltd," and being reasonably close to me thought I'd give them a call. It turns out that Nigel at Flat Twins has just set up as an Airhead specialist after over 40 years in the motorcycle business. At present it's a part-time concern (weekends), but he hopes to go full time when work picks up. He operates from a well-equipped unit on a farm near between Lichfield and Tamworth, and to cut a long story short, did a great job on my bike for a more than reasonable price.

He's also a genuinely nice, knowledgable (very talkative!) bloke who also makes great tea and coffee! He can collect your bike if required.
