I sometimes looked at that seller’s bikes, but this has put me off.

Putting "Barn find" in the title bumps the price by £1k :-)

I like the way they optimistically say "just" add MOT and you're sorted....

Another few hundred quid buys you a decent runner with an MOT.
It'll be a bit tatty with relatively high mileage but at least you'll be able to ride the fricking thing.

For the price of getting it sorted & back on the
road you could buy a decent one, & spend your
time riding rather than rebuilding.

Probably a good few years left in this one.

that buyback is a weird idea though...£700 less after a year and only 3000 miles allowed. Would expect to get almost the full amount back from it after so few miles and a year of owning it, if it was still in the same condition as when sold.

Interesting idea but actually, it doesn't amount to very much. The only effect is that the seller undertakes to buy the vehicle back if you want to sell it at the end of the year. As far as I can see there is no commitment for the buyer to do anything at all.

The underlying question has to be why? Perhaps he is expecting to have to spend a year off the road for some reason.

It does show that he has faith in the bike though, if he's prepared to enter into an agreement to buy it back.
And if you think £700 is a lot to lose over a year, times that by at least 5 for any new bike or car around the 10 - 12 grand mark over the same period.
£700, or £68 a month is cheap motoring these days.

Hi
good if you are visiting the UK though. Buy a bike that you are fairly sure is OK do a European trip, sell back for much less than the cost of hiring?

EDIT
I posted before I read the advert
It represents cheap “rental” for a holiday, or maybe the owner is no going to be riding for 12 month cos he is expecring to "go away" for 9 of them, or maybe a "medical" condition that comes with 9 months license suspension?

Yes that's a good point.
Or on a short term working placement from abroad.
It's a win win for the seller, as he is only obliged to buy the bike back with limited mileage and condition un changed.
What's the daily rate for bike hire these days.
Well I checked one site who quote £465 for a week on an F800GT.
Suddenly, £700 to have a bike at your disposal for a whole year seems very reasonable, even if you are restricted to 3,000 miles.

Hi
IIRC you are not restricted to 3000 miles, it is just that the seller charges extra. 5 bob a mile? £250 for 1K

I wonder what the car "rental purchase" schemes charge per mile?
