I'll try to make it but my R80/7 isn't on the road yet so I'll be coming through on my Fazer.

That would be great Ian!

No problem with non-BMW bikes taking part!

I am hoping that some of our newer members around the Dundee area might give it a shot as well.
It's an attractive venue and a nice run to get there.

I think some of the lads may be going to the Thunder in the Glens meet and a few of my mates are heading for the Orkneys this weekend. Be interesting to see who ( and what!) turns up.

Northern Meet this Sunday 27th August in Ceres

Postby Ruralman » Mon Aug 28, 2017 7:25 am

Hi All,
Sorry for the delay in posting the Northern Meet Report, I was not feeling great when I got home, shoulder pain knees painful and generally feeling sick.

I arrived in last place due to a technical malfunction ( My phone died, it's also my sat-nav) Ced Dumfries & Galloway) Gordon(Dundee), Iain (Dundee)and Ron (Forfar)were already there.
There was a lot of chat about Thailand, both Gordon and Iain have lived there.
We all had Moroccan Soup (it was tasty ) the room was too hot and by the end I was feeling quite wabit!
I followed Ced part of the way home and carried on on my own after he had diverted to see his daughter, my journey home made me wish for my GSA as it's a more suitable ride for me.
Thanks to all the Guys for making the Northern Meet enjoyable!
Regards
Keith

Another interesting Northern Meet at Ceres!

It was nice to meet up with Keith [Ruralman], Gordon [gogs01], Ian [Captain Airhead] and Ron [Visitor].

The roads were dry going from Dumfries and the weather brightened further North.

Quite busy on the road from Moffat with cycle events and walkers so care had to be taken.

Arriving over the Forth Bridge into Fife found a major road closure and I was diverted into Cupar along with a million others!

Only 5 miles from Cupar to Ceres though and I arrived just 5 minutes late commented on by Gordon!

Keith is usually first to arrive but no sign of him and he turned up 20 minutes later his phone/satnav having died.

The meal was very good (Moroccan soup) and some succumbed to the option of home-made scones as well!

It was a very good meet with some funny and interesting tales of South Korea by Ian and Gordon.

Hope you are feeling better Keith - it sounds like both you and Jan might have got food-poisoning after that Mexican meal?

Hi Ced,
Sorry I got the wrong country it was indeed South Korea, I'm back at school still feeling a bit wabit!

Keith - I hope you have recovered fully from yesterday, I didn't realise you were becoming unwell.
I had just met Ron a couple of hours before we arrived in Ceres but we had had a very enjoyable, scenic ride through Auchtermuchty and Falkland - areas he knew well having been brought up in Fife.
Iain (Captain Airhead) had arrived by Fazer before us and he had many tales of Fazer, R80 and other exotica.
When Ced arrived (fashionably, but not excessively, late  ), we all moved in to the Fife Folk Museum and tearoom where we were made very welcome. When Keith arrived we all tucked in to some delicious soup with tea and I can thoroughly recommend the freshly baked scones - super ! .
An excellent day out and of course every day is a school day - I now know what a "coffee girl" was in Korea .....

Thanks Gordon, I've had to go to the doctors today, seems that I've got an infection, they've given me tablets hopefully that will sort me out.

It was nice to meet up with you all and sorry you were feeling a bit 'wabit' Keith.
It was a really nice venue. Can't believe I've never ventured there before being so close:-

I got there a bit early on my Fazer followed by Gordon and his guest Ron on the Honda. A few minutes later, Ced turned up:-

We chewed the fat a bit in the car park but no sign of Keith yet :-

The restaurant was very nice and we had some friendly banter with the staff while we decided what to order. I think we all went for the Moroccan soup which was quite delicious. Keith eventually turned up having had some minor technical issue so we all sat down to scoff some rather nice home made food and exchanged some interesting stories of derring do and misadventures.
After a very nice afternoon, we parted company and I followed Gordon and Ron as far as Dundee before heading home to feed the cat.
All in all, a very nice day out. Thanks chaps for the good company and I hope my BMW is on the road for the next meet up..
Ian.
