Will Honda allow them to call it a Dominator?

You must be young jockboxer, Norton had already used the name and I think something else was called Dominator way back.

Best roads: 623 Burgos to Santander. A back road to Metz; can't remember which!
Schorsch 1978-80 R65 - bit of a Shetland pony; frisky and naughty.
Friedrich 1993 R80RT - a Percheron, but can still mix it with the rest.

Norton was calling certain models of bikes the Dominator before Sochiro Honda had even picked up his first spanner, so who owns the name, I wonder?

At the show in NEC I saw the new Norton’s, good looking bikes, but despite trying to follow the original style they still had so many changes they didn’t look quite right. Almost like they had been given a brief to stick to the old style, but the teenage whizz kid designers wanted to build something different.

The new Brough Superior range was cool, the first of a new design, company, batch etc, I know some people will snap them up, but I’d leave it a couple of years to thrash out the reliability and spares situation first.

A youngster. Me? Nope. I too had a Domi. Second bike I ever owned. 99 twin carb which I bought for £35. However, since Norton went belly up and Honda then used the name for its 650 singles (also owned one of them a couple of years ago) I assumed that Honda would own the rights to the name. We will see. I might just get one of the new 650s to see out my riding career.

I do have a 1960 (62 Reg) Norton Model 99 600cc Slimline Dominator in my garage as my investment/project/toy.
I also know where there is a race prepared 1960 650SS (the big brother of mine), which except for testing has never run.
Whatever they call it, I know which I prefer and, it ain't the new one.
