Delete the pairings on both the sat nav and helmet turn them both off and back on again and start the pairing process again.

That's a strange one. I would try to find another device (a Garmin satnav or another BMW communicator) and try pairing with them.
I take it the TomTom works with other devices ?
Deleting all pairings and starting again fixes most things .....

See if this works (it's for a System 7 Helmet):

Ref link: https://beeceebeemers.com/index.php/201 ... ns-system/
"For each device pairing, you must put the communications system in pairing mode. Ensure that the helmet communications system is powered on and then simultaneously press the power and volume + button. The green LED will blink twice as fast to indicate that it is now in pairing mode. Ensure your other device is in discovery mode. The helmet will appear as an option and adding it is a breeze. You are able to have up to three bluetooth connections simultaneously with the communications module. Paring with another helmet is considered one connection. In my situation, I have the audio system from my motorcycle, my navigation system and my smartphone. Through some trial and error, I found that the order in which devices are added makes a big difference.
Pair the motorcycle audio system first, then add the navigation unit. Once that is done, you have an A2DP compliant headset that is able to communicate to your motorcycle and the navigation unit. Lastly, pair your smartphone with the navigation unit – not the headset. This added my iPhone to the whole setup and allowed full operation, including control of Siri."

I know my headset/Garmin Zumo can be a little strange - pairing only works correctly if the headset is truned on before the Zumo - if done the other way arund it will tell you it's paired but do nothing. It's worth playing with different routes.

Try pairing the helmet to just your mobile to see if the helmet comms is working (play Music).

System 6 Pairing video:
https://youtu.be/YVtBJVpe0tI

TT 400 Pairing:
1. First make sure that there are NO Bluetooth signals around you.
2. Switch OFF the TomTom Rider 400 and the helmet.
3. Switch ON the TT Rider 400.
4. Switch ON the TT Rider 400 Bluetooth pairing.
5. Switch ON Helmet.
6. Switch ON the helmet pairing.
7. Select the helmet on the TT 400 pairing.

As Phil says, pairing some systems can be fiddly and so try different combinations of what is switched on first.

I think that the System 6 helmet uses Bluetooth 2.0 and am assuming that the TT400 Bluetooth is compatible.

You can get a cheap Bluetooth headset off Ebay for around £5.00 which fits under a helmet and might help for testing/alternative/emergency use:

I added a bit to my last post re the cheap Ebay headset.
I've got two of these and they work fine so might keep you going meantime until the BMW helmet comms gets sorted/binned!

I stopped using these Bluetooth headsets only because I preferred a hard-wired system which does not require charging each night when you are touring - otherwise they worked OK.

If your BMW Helmet Comms system is indeed kaput it could be expensive to repair/replace.
Try BMW Customer Service for support on this if no-one here can advise further.

PS: Just seen your last post - glad you got it sorted!

In my time we'd tuck a walkman headset under our lid. Job done.
