F650 2004 fuel economy

Postby Oldbloke » Sun Nov 29, 2015 12:57 pm

Hi all

I am giving serious thought to selling my R1100R and my Yamaha SR400 and replacing them with an F650 single from 2004. My main reason is economy, I'm semi retired and shouldn't really indulge myself with two bikes.

The SR400 does about 75mpg and the R1100R about 47mpg so obviously I love the economy of the former and the comfort of the latter. Speed isn't important.

May I ask what sort of mpg the F650s do and are there any known vices?

Thanks Ian

Hi Ian.
I have owned a F650CS for a few weeks and commute 40 miles a day. The trip is a mixture of heavy traffic with some filtering and a few miles on a motorway though seldom get above 65mph! The bike has returned 72 on 2 fill ups, then 70mpg and the worst 66mpg. I am surprised by its acceleration having downgraded?? from a K1100lt. Hope this helps
Regards
Chris

Reading various road tests and looking at the link above it appears 50 mpg is the norm. I have now covered 2000 miles since late October averaging 70 mpg. I don't dawdle about either.
