Great picture Steve. I did a dry suit course years ago and there was a small kids bike I rode off side of the quay and some one was taking pictures, but I never did get one.

With the Badgers now beginning to emerge around dusk it's only a matter of a few weeks before they'll be out in reasonable daylight and I'd like to get some good daytime shots of them so I've just bought a DSLR camera to give me a fighting chance. Need to be taking these in manual mode to minimise scary noises so I'm busy playing when I get 5 minutes - there's so many buttons that all access different menus. It's going to be a steep learning curve but hopefully the results will be worthwhile.. Highly impressed with the quality of the photos (at 24+ Mp they should be) - in auto mode it's simply point and shoot for good results but getting good shots of the Badgers could be a challenge.

A quick freehand shot this afternoon gave me this.

What happened to the crane?

This crane was one of the old ones around 25 + years old and soon to be scraped. They had a ship in with 4 new cranes on the deck from China moored along side the quay. See the picture how they are shipped. It was a very windy winter Saturday night and most of the ropes mooring the ship snapped??? The ship was pushed along the quay by the wind and one of the new cranes on the deck of the ship hit the old one on the quay. This was all rusty inside and just folded like wet cardboard. Then there was a BIG insurance claim, and the old crane was cut up for scrap.
Now how can a ship which is moored up with around 16 ropes bigger then your arm have most of them snap at the same time? Or was the dock trying to do a insurance scam. The same dock which told there fire brigade not to put out a fire in a grade 2 listed timber office as it was in the way were they wanted to build a new quay??? Makes you wonder.

This is how the cranes come from China.
