Yes, acupuncture is a help, it's getting the physical disc deformation sorted that is the problem

Picked up my RT from Allan Jefferies yesterday after having my trip to Cracoe rudely interrupted by my engine trying to self-destruct.
Running very nicely on ride home after replacement balance shaft, bobweight and various bearings, seals etc.

Hell, that's a nightmare, had you set off Keith and did you have recovery ? How did that all work ? Great she's all ok again, when did it happen and are you on your way again or putting it off to a later date ?

Thanks Ced, all seems well now, in fact it seems to be running better than ever (crossing fingers!) Hope to meet up with you at St. Mary's Loch.
BoxerCup, I was on my way to the club lunch meet at Cracoe. As I was running late, I was using the M62/M606/Shipley/Skipton route. Just before I got to the M606, the engine started knocking. As there was no oil pressure light or other warning showing and the engine was still producing normal power, I decided to drive very steadily to Allan Jefferies as it was on my route anyway. Neither I nor their master technician, Steve - an excellent guy - could identify the noise so I decided to leave it with them for investigation/repair. They lent me a K1600GT but as it was too late by then to go to the lunch, I returned home. The 1600 had to go back as it was booked out so they then lent me a 1200GS - both fine bikes in different ways.
The problem was found to be that the bolt holding the bobweight onto the balance shaft under the crankshaft had somehow loosened. This allowed two things to happen: one, the bobweight was flapping about, hitting the flywheel (the balance shaft passes through the rear wall of the crankcase and the bobweight is in the bellhousing) and the crankcase wall and, two, the balance shaft itself had moved forward and was making a bid for freedom by starting to drill through the inner timing cover.
Anyway, all is now well and despite the appeal of the loan bikes, I think I'd be hanging on to R12 UXB for a while yet. Perhaps the reg. no. should now be changed to just XB!

Went to the dealer today to pick up third loan bike while mine is being repaired. They have done me proud with a brand new 900 Yamaha Tracer.

Just got to find a way of fitting a weeks gear and supplies into a 50 litre roll bag, 'cause it ain't got no panniers.

Yes, managed to find a way of fitting my GS Tank bag to the Yam. Amazing what can be achieved with heavy duty zip ties

Rode to Brompton on Swale and through Richmond straight after work tonight for my tea at The Manor Cafe. Lovely night for a ride. It was quiet mind you but I had a good chat to a couple of Ducati riders and with the owner of AMR and had a great ride home via Middleham and Masham :-"

Washed my GS after being out on dirty roads and heavy rain yesterday....took it out tonight all gleaming and it chucked it down again...clean it again tomorrow.
