Anyone planning a trip through the Pyrenees should note the pass from Ainsa over the mountains to France is currently closed because of tunnel works.
Needed a detour to the next pass from Ainsa going east but every mile was in glorious sunshine with some of the best roads in the world. If only every road blockage in this country resulted in the same!
Weather last week in Northern Spain/southern France was very hot and sunny and we only got wet once riding round the autoperique around Paris in the rush hour on the Thursday while we were making our way north on a 440 mile ride from MIllau.
As always, don't speed in France, I was caught by a skinny Gendarme hiding behind the very last tree on a long avenue of trees exiting a town on our way to Brugge. I was just speeding up to 70KMH from 50KMH as the town had already come to an end. Cost me 90 Euros and about 40mins. I doubt I will ever go back to France, as it’s very difficult to remain on the right side of the law with their petty driving/riding laws and sneaky low-life tactics.
Otherwise, a great time was had by all and my bike returned great fuel economy and was 100% reliable. As were the other 3 bikes on tour.
