I noticed age splits in both my tyres. Only bought the bike on Sunday, glanced at the tyres, but a closer inspection revealed I need to order new rubber tomorrow.

Research required, what type to buy.

Good run out to the Ponderosa cafe Horshoe pass. Wished I'd put my winter gloves on!

Stopped at Jedburgh for a coffee, 'P' and petrol stop. Suns gone in so out with me little jacket for a bit of warmth. Great run so far, quiet on the A68, good average kept up 👍

Oh no, sorry to hear that Mate, you must be in pain to be taking tramodol. Best of luck for a swift recovery.

Trying to get a mate to come collect his VFR400NC, so that I can get to and finish another pals Triumph TR6 Trophy, so that I can get to and finish my R100GS and get it sold so that I can work on ride and enjoy my R80GS which still doesn't have the PD kit fitted to it because I can't swing a cat in here. Not that I have a cat to swing, and if I did I wouldn't swing it, but you get my drift.

Apart from that everything is fine and I'm looking forward to meeting up for the Cosford trip tomorrow.

Likewise it's good to have a bit of lightweight banter on here.

Did I mention the stripped down Suzi T20 Super six spread all around the place crammed into every nook and cranny, and a spare T250 engine under the bench.
I had every intention of getting it up and running and have a blast from my youth again, but that was 9 years ago, silly boy ](*,)

The wife has retired to the spare room as she is fed up of looking at the Bumblebee tank which has been residing in our bedroom over winter, as per Snowbums recommends. I couldn't fit it in the boxroom because it's full of panniers and camping gear and other important bits and pieces.

Anyway life is a blast and there to be enjoyed

Looked at the sun. Looked at the bike.....weeping master cylinder so not much chance for a long ride, so pondered how the strap the Bagster back ons...hmmm. Wish I had taken more notice of where the straps went when I removed it.

Cracked another 80 odd miles. It's 40 years this year since I passed my IAM test, so I'm doing it again. Why? Not sure but it's a challenge worth doing I think.

Went to work on the rt. Did day 1 of a direct access course with two students. Then went home got the guzzi out and rode around east Kent with my mate on his cbf 1000. Got chatting to a chap and his Mrs on a Harley. A good 13 hours spent in the biking world.

Great ride home down the A68 from Edinburgh, dry and bright if a tad blustery over the tops like Tow Law but nothing too bad. Made great progress, stopped at Rochester for a tea and cake and a pee. Covered the 152 miles easily and home in 3 hrs, and without any aches to shout about, so comfortable and effortless, I now understand peoples love of the lazy twin engine =D>

Shakedown runs before trip right up North. Just a drippy carb to fix and I should be good ;-)

Did a quick spin up and down the island to warm up the engine, then balanced the carbs using the manometer. Not before discovering that a previous erratic idle had been caused by a loose, broken wire in one newish (!) throttle cable that had bent back up and was binding in the cable slieve.
BTW - 'swinging cats' - this saying does not refer to the furry kind of cats. The cat was the taper used to fire the guns on RN warships of Nelson's day. The taper was kept glowing by swinging round and round (easier than continuously blowing on it). However, as there was little room between decks it was sometimes difficult hence "no room to swing a cat".
Oh, yes, checked and found a couple of nuts that needed tightening on the sidecar links and substituted a thin bungee for the inner tube rubbers (dozed and split) used to keep the side panels in place!
