Consider using a long cable tie to loosely retain the Mirror Assembly should it become detached again.
You want it to detach if struck but not to fall onto the road.

The Mirror Glass can be replaced separately but it sounds like yours is beyond this.

Check that the three fixing pins that mate with the Mirror pod are not damaged - I like to put a smear of copper grease on these pins.

Also check when fixing the pod that the clip fingers on the pod do not get damaged as this can cause the pod to detach when riding.
Align the three pins with the clip fingers when fitting then strike the pod with the heel of your hand onto the pins front first then the rear two.
Check it is secure.

You can get glass cut to size here http://www.carwingmirrors.co.uk/custom- ... irror.aspx.
I paid half of the cost of a BMW mirror and the quality is good. They do flat or convex. I drew round my other mirror to send them the shape. Glued the new one onto the remains of the broken mirror with silicone.
