We cross posted there, Geoff.

17th of April sounds good and imagine you may get a few campers too at that time of year. I won't be able to make it but that's my problem... :-({|=

Well you've lost me there john no mates! Do we have to just visit Motorcycle related places of interest?

boxerman wrote:No, Lolo, you have broken no rules and have, in fact, gone exactly the correct way in getting a new event added to the calendar and such suggestions are always very welcome and appreciated - we need to folk to suggest events (especially if they or someone else is willing to organise them). =D> =D> Geoff has volunteered to get this up and running as it's in his back yard and it will happen.....

John no mates is an even newer member than you and seems to have got the hump with us because we won't allow the event calendar to be filled with non-official events that do nothing for the club. See viewtopic.php?f=53&t=10442

Allow me to stick my nose in as I see this could develop into something of great interest. (great idea Lolo)

Squires afterwards is fine but how about I plan a route up to the dales? Dinner at Kettlewell, a ride thru grassington and a trip to stump cross caverns all in one day. We could call it the grand West and North yorks big day out. (slips of the tounge)

Even better, how about 2 days and we all camp at Appletreewick Saturday at Masons (2 pubs in the village and riverside setting) and I organise a "proper" ride out on the sunday taking in Skipton, hawes, Pately bridge, Ingleton and more...? I know this area like th back of my hand as does moorlander of course and I dare say Geoff and others.

Above would depend on it being April of course as it will be too cold to camp in march OR WILL IT?

Hold that thought, Al...

That sounds like it has the makings of of good camping weekend but I'd suspect that it could be a bit too much for one weekend if it's combined with a day visit to the Armoury.

We really, really, need some camping weekends on the calendar for next year so rather than trying to tack it on to the end of Lolo's do, how about putting it on as a standalone camping weekend sometime when it's likely to be warm?. If that sounds like a workable idea to you just start a new thread proposing it so we don't kill this one and I'm certain you'd be given a free hand to get it sorted.. =D>

Great idea Ilkleyal! However, I think we should seperate it from the Armouries as I think a visit there will take most of the day. Your suggestion has the makings of a great rally. You could call it the "Dalesman"

Mid May looks like it could be a good time.

I don't know any of the area but anything that involves a ride out, lots of countryside, camping and alcohol has got to be good =D>

Then so be it,

The 2010 Dalesman Rally is born  . I will start a seperate thread. I don't mind organising this, I am membership secretary and secretary of a private club myself so I know a bit about it.

It will have to be done right so I will need a Tail End Charlie or 2 who knows the dales like I do so will be asking for a volunteer(s)

More to follow,
Right, I will hand this thread back to Lolo as I don't want to hijack it.

Bring it on! \:D/

The Meeting Place? i see the cafe is on the second floor! is this where the planned meeting place is to be? is there free motorcycle parking or do we have to park in the multi story?

I think we said the cafe as meeting. :-k

I have not been for about 10 years and there used to be a car park but have just double checked and It says parking is in the multi storey. Not sure how much it will be but at least the bikes will be secure and the Armouries are free entry

How many of you/us intend to camp at Squires on the Saturday night? I will bob over there in the next few days and make sure they are OK with it.

I really don't like to be one of those who post to say they cant make it but.... I'm afraid i cant make it for the same reason as phil (boxerman). I really would love to be there and hope you all have a fantastic weekend. Lolo, I think it is tremendous that you have organised this and i hope the sun shines and the weekend goes well.
