South Lancs Lunch meetings 2017

Postby george baker » Tue Nov 08, 2016 6:56 pm

Hi People,

It's that time of year when I want to review the Lunch meeting venues for next year.

1) Do we want to move the Location about in 2017 ?
2) If we do, then WHERE ? Please post new location suggestions
3) Do we continue with 1st Thursday meets ? It allows people to ride up to Wray -- if it continues in 2017
4) Do we want to organise weekend meets ?

It would be good if we can find a location that the Yorkshire crew can get to at least a couple of times. This could be extra to our normal timetable.

I don't mind organising them, but I don't want it to be a dictatorship, I want your input too.
I await replies

I'm easy George, Winfields is a good cafe for the monthlies, maybe a couple of meet ups with Yorkshire as well. Hawes or somewhere close should be do-able for most, as mentioned elsewhere. Last few meetings have been well attended would be nice to keep up the momentum.

George,

I agree with Marty. Winfields is a good location and seems to be convenient for those who turn up regularly, even those of us who live in the wilds of southernmost Cheshire!!

Things to look at (the bike museum section), a good brunch and good regular company...................a winning combination.

I would be happy to keep the meet there and the first Thursday seems to have gone down well this year.

Hi
Winfields looks OK for me on the First Thursday so===

April 6th
May 4th
June 1st
July 6th
August 3rd

Time to be agreed, is Noon most suitable?

On September 7th September Bryce and I will be heading up to Barrow in Furness so
* Either someone else has to agree to host the meeting (I dont actually do anything except remind people it is on)
* Or it will be where I plan to be at lunchtime.

I will try to pick out some other days to meet in a Random sort of way and a place to meet the Yorkshire members

!2-00 hrs gives scope to those a distance away to get there. Plenty of time yet but I might look at a venue for a weekend meeting if anyone is interested. Might give a chance for those who work midweek to meet up with us.

Hi
what is WORK? #-o

Yes Tony find some good weekend places cos I am sure some of us can get out then. Bryce and I have gone to Sandbach and Northwich J&S cos they are about equal distances, not too much motorway and have cafés.

We could go to the seaside and visit Tango for an ice cream or fish and chips

One place I have in mind is the Velo Café at Croston. Another I will look at is fairly near to Devil's Bridge.

If you fancy a trip to the Fylde coast, this place has decent reviews, not been for a while, but will check it out if any interest see if it's still there etc..

It's located close to the end of the M55, so easy to find and get to. Could plan a ride out around Fylde and the Wyre.

Hi
meeting up before the end of this year is difficult, I get free after the New year.

Blackpool bike show is Bank holiday weekend, does that make a difference?
