April 18th Jacksons Farm Shop Yorkshire lunch meet

Postby P-K » Sun Apr 09, 2017 2:30 pm

Hi everyone,
This is going on the Forum a bit earlier than usual, because I'm off for a short holiday, and only get back on Easter Monday, one day before the meeting.
Date April 18th
Venue Jacksons Farm Shop, Cracoe, Nr Skipton
http://www.jacksonsofcracoe.co.uk/

Note This is a Joint meet up with members from the North West
For location, Cracoe is on the B6265, about 6 miles north of Skipton, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. (See the website)

Meet from 12:00 noon onwards.
If it looks like there might be a few at the meet (as it's a joint meet up) could I ask "Someone" to perhaps give them a ring next Saturday or Sunday, and reserve a table to cope with us all. Phone num (From their website) is 01756 730269

Many thanks.
Phil.

Now then Phil

I would've been up for this but we're going to the Isle of Man for the Easter weekend in the Boxster.
Hope you have a great break and the weather is good to you and everyone has a great Easter.
Cheers

I'm going to have a run down to Kendal on Monday, staying at the Shakespeare Inn.
I'll pop along to Jackson's farm shop for lunch (and, hopefully, a chat) on Tuesday then head home to Scotland.
Hoping to put a face to a few club / forum member names. 😊

EDIT:- My neck/shoulder muscle injury has made an unwelcome return and is bl**dy painful so I will apologise in advance as I cannot ride my bike at the moment and don't think I will be able to by Tuesday. I will be attending though in my 4 wheeled tin box.

Set off a bit later than anticipated so route was M62/Bradford/Skipton. Just about to turn off onto the M606 when ominous knocking from engine and squealing/whirring when clutch pulled in. Limped to Allan Jeffries where they could not have been more helpful. They had a master technician listen to the noises and they seemed to be from the front of the engine. They whipped it into the workshop and pulled the alternator belt cover. The belt had jumped forward one one notch on the pulley (how?) and was rubbing on the cover. Belt replaced and trial ride by technician. The squealing was still there intermittently but the knocking was still there. Jefferies fixed me up with a loan bike (K1600GT!) and the RT is with them for further investigation. Excellent service from Jeffries. More news when I have some.
Hope everyone else had a good day!

That was bad luck Keith.

At least you didn't get stranded.

Hope it's not too serious - sounds like a bearing gone.

Enjoy the K1600GT rocket-ship!

Colin, don't think I'll be getting the GT (no soul!) but they did have a nice 1200LC in! I'll see what the damage is on mine. If I's minor, I'll probably trade up when it's fixed. If it's expensive/major then I will keep it, knowing that major work/checks have been done.

Ced, it could have been worse, could have been in the middle of rural France or on an autobahn!

Really great day out (as usual) and a lovely cafe. :)

Hundreds of us turned up and and an impromptu committee meeting decided that we shall purchase a club "spare loaner bike" (brand new RT) and hold a Summer Ball with free beer and dancing girls as soon as the Club Treasurer remembers where the money is... ;) Note: only for fully paid up members so get your applications in now.... ;)

Gogs gets the prize for longest ride and Tony for best dressed. George gets the "Technical Expertise" trophy for his novel accessory wiring and a special mention to our Yorkshire colleagues who had cleverly removed all evidence of "chicken strips" with a 12V angle grinder. The trick mounting/dismounting display was priceless.

Here are some pics of a great bunch of guys..

Hi
Summer Ball with free beer and dancing girls
I dont remember that being agreed, and my wife is not happy with the free beer and dancing girls, she knows if I had to pay I would not partake, but if they are free then I would consume more than is good for me

Thanks PK for organizing this meet upt, and in anticipation to Al, who is going to organize one in June, in Scotland for us.

Fantastic turnout guys - well done everyone who attended (and he who attempted but didn't quite make it)!

Gordon [gogs01] - great effort, must be one of the highest mileages yet to get to a Lunch Meet and up there with Tony [Tony the Skin] and Mark [Baggy]. =D>
