R80RT Tracker build

Postby M41RK » Sat Dec 23, 2017 7:39 pm

Hi all, on the tuning stage of my project. I have cone airfilters and slip on shorty exhausts.Bike takes a little convincing to start in the cold but idles around 1200rpm when choke is fully off. My question is why would i be getting sparks and the odd flame from the exhausts. Is this timing or mixture related.Sounds amazing by the way and looks great but i would rather not be pulled over or go up in flames? any thoughts would be welcome,
many thanks,
Mark

hi
pulled over is better than going uP in flames

my first thought is that the short PiPes are the Problem and the reduced Pressure Pulse in the exhaust system that should helP Pull mixture in to the cylinder is going on for too long ao Pulling mixture out of the exhaust Port

Thanks George, i'm wondering whether one cylinder is missing on odd occasions pulling un ignited fuel into the hot exhaust. Im going to balance the carbs and check timing in the new year.I know the exhaust pulse is important i may re install the collector box if balance and timing doesn't help,
Merry Christmas
