cleaning and freeing up a power valve on a 2013 GSAdv

Postby kayaking100 » Thu Jul 28, 2016 3:55 pm

After disconnecting the cables ,clamps and the rest of the exhaust I was wondering if any one has any suggestion as to what I might use to both clean and free-up the internal butterfly mechanism. I have used the usual cleaning spray and penetrating oils etc etc but the spring isn't returning back fully.. I'm trying to avoid £217plus vat from a bmw dealer or £160 second hand. Please help

Sorry, old thread I know but I've heard that leaving the mechanism submerged in diesel over a long period helps.

I've replaced mine with an exhaust flap valve eliminator from Motorworks.

Mine seems to be ok,still at 24k miles. I fear,it is just a matter of time though. You can remove it and replace with a bit of pipe. Give Motobins a call and have a chat about it.
