Postby baldylocks » Tue Jan 09, 2018 9:01 pm

Good evening fellow beemers,I'm considering buying a 2007gs,and seeking advice about any modifications that should have been carried out and what to do if they have not,is it still possible to have them done? or perhaps parts might be provided from BMW,look forward to replies, many thanks.

Hi there,

I had an 08 plate R1200GS until very recently.
Look for Ring Antennae
Fuel Pump Controller,
Rear Wheel Flange.

These are the biggies on your bike.

If you've got a specific bike in mind, and know its reg. no. just give your local dealer a ring - they'll tell you exactly what's already been done and if anything's outstanding.

Hi Baldy
I found these VOSA recalls
3 04/02/2005 RM/2005/016 BMW MOTORCYCLES R1200GS(K25) engine may cut out ZL0000000000225000 ZL000000000029999
14 04/02/2005 RM/2005/016 BMW MOTORCYCLES R1200GS(K25) engine may cut out ZN000000000025000 ZN000000000031286
15 18/03/2005 RM/2005/015 BMW MOTORCYCLES R1200GS(K25), R1200RT(K26) AND R1200ST(K28) throttle cable may jam
16 14/04/2005 RM/2005/019 BMW MOTORCYCLES K1200RS,K1200GT,K1200LT,R1150RT,R1150RS,R1150GS,R1150R,R1150GSADV,R1200C,R1200CL,R1200CI,R1200 MONT,R850R,R850RT leak in fuel system
17 14/03/2006 RM/2006/020 BMW MOTORCYCLES R1200 RT, R1200 ST, R1200 GS, K1200R AND K1200 S abs may fail
18 14/03/2006 RM/2006/021 BMW MOTORCYCLES R1200 RT, R1200 ST AND R1200 GS abs may fail
19 14/03/2006 RM/2006/023 BMW MOTORCYCLES R1200 RT,ST AND GS clutch may fail
20 12/09/2006 RM/2006/037 BMW MOTORCYCLES R1200S final drive assembly may leak
As I understand it the From date means all models in the range from that date

I suspect I was confused by your title cos I think, BMW may have in house, not Recalls but service notifications which are not dangerous (which is what I think the VOSA recalls are about) but image/ reliability problems, To find these do what Pete said

Good Luck
