Re: Sena 20S Evo

If you blue tooth intercom can exceed 100 metres then don't use it as you will be subjecting your skull to inappropriate levels of radiation. Otherwise keep talking.

150 miles of slow changes, fast changes, change downs for fast corners and so far its sweet. The next Post will be a simple write up with a couple of pics, it will be in the form of an attachment and in word. Rode out to Alnwick for a coffee at Barter books (look this one up) where coffee is 30p a c...

Re: First gear reluctant to stay in.

There is a problem on these boxes in that the engagement dogs are square and with wear/use they round off, this affects the engagement process and can cause slipping out of gear. If you technique improves the problem and all of the above suggestions then great, live with it until it gets worse and i...

Re: Gearbox issue

Test ride last night proved good, a nice sweet gear change. I intend to put a few miles in today once I have fueled up. If it's seem's to be a fix I will publish what I have done but with the caveat that time may be the Judge who is unkind? ie cannot guarantee a durable fix. More later this coming w...

Re: Gearbox issue

To Bombardarsbeemers and all Thanks for your comments, but sadly not of much use as you are many thousands of miles away. Sending a gearbox to the usa for a motorcycle only worth about £2000 is a non starter. Once I have time I will write up what I have done and the results. This will include dog un...

Re: Gearbox issue

Hi Happy readers. The gearbox came off easily today but I expected that as it was the bikes second box. The friction plate splines are very smooth and the input shaft is worn although its good enough to put back on the bike if needed. On another bench is the original box that was removed by a previo...

Re: Radial Engine Explained

The real trick in Radial engines was teaching them when they had rotary sleeve valves, not that was fun. It is from the Rotary engine which was nearly a two stroke, that the saying was penned. "Its the head that nods the horse" the whole aeroplane used to vibrate and the torque affect was not fun as...

Re: Spark plug booster kit... sceptical but.....

Just seen this topic, so if what I have say is old hat then a big SORRY. In the days of oily engines an idea that crept out of the wartime RAF was as follows, it supposedly helps combustion. Cut the ignition HT cable and slide of a short length of plastic tube that fits tightly on the cable. Screw a...

I will have to think about that as at resent I am also trying to get a le velocette up and running so time is a bit short for me doing an article. Re: Gearbox issue

All of the above done. I am aware of these issue's with the RT as I had one some years back. The problem is internal to the box and is a known one for hanging in gear, but what's not known is the fix! Likewise with the earlier box and its ability to chew selector fork, this may be aided by undercutt...

Ok for websites -I think I have read them all. I am looking for someone who has either fixed a box or had someone do a fix for the problems I put in the first post.

The bike is a 96 with a M74 box. Yes the Ks were ok. Also yes the airheads present no problems. Yes, I have a spare input shaft and yes your appear to be right the extended boss is for 6 speed models The questions though still remain un answered SO. here are the questions again. 1. Has anyone experi...

Re: Gearbox issue

TO Galactic greyhound. The clutch is either shot ie splines stripped which is why I will use the adapted friction plate from motorworks which has a deeper boss for greater spline engagement or the input shaft has stripped and I said I had a spare if it was this. The clutch is not an issue only the r...

Gearbox issue

I am about to remove the box to replace the clutch plate as its got stripped splines or maybe the input shaft has! The input shaft is not a worry as I have a spare box which has a selector fork that is being ground by the gears as it struggles to get the bike into gear. BMW failed to undercut the do...

R1100RS Gearbox

Has anyone recently stripped a gearbox and might be able to identify a washer/spacer. It is 15mm across with a 10mm opening. Once I have found out how to reduce the memory size on my camera I will post a picture.

Re: R1100 gearbox diagram

Hi Douglas.
Yes, got that. Now have a manual.

What is odd is that all talk about the input shaft talks about ball bearings or sealed bearings, I have a taper roller at each end. Is this another alternative by BMW or is it a fix by someone else.
