Re: Loud Pipes Save Lives... Really?

And, of course, the dastardly authorities are too stupid to carry out studies and analyses to discover what level of penalty is most effective, taking into account the general accepatbility of the penalty by the general public when the penalty is considered in proportion to the offence, the effect ...

Re: Loud Pipes Save Lives... Really?

The one overriding fact that it is for fund raising and not safety is that if you warn people that there is a speed camera then you will be done for it despite the fact that it clearly makes more people slow down. That is just the most obvious but there are hundreds of others that prove it in addit...

Re: Loud Pipes Save Lives... Really?

Despite your obviously very passionate belief, the government, the police, the courts... whatever don't make money by enforcing laws. The figures are available if you care to look. The administration of the law is a ferociously expensive business. .. Maybe not but the moneys going somewhere isn't i...

April 4th 1963 we had six inches of snow.
My birthday so I tend to remember when we have snow on my birthday and it is not that many in the last 66 years. :)
But you're 58 not 66.

Re: I have to ask

I do wonder if the benefit of hindsight allow us to conclude idiots at work. Is it that someone that does not appreciate how precious life is is always an idiot? The evidence says so but maybe that is because the non-idiot ones generally get away with it. I'm making the point that technology can't ...

Re: I have to ask

The story surrounding the crossbow perplexes me. These weapons are legal for anyone over the age of 18 and don't require licensing. When the appeal came out it appears that one dealer came forward and supplied details of all his crossbow buyers over the last 10 years and the guy just happened to be ...

Re: Loud Pipes Save Lives... Really?

Loud pipes are for attention seekers who just want to make a grand entrance.
I've no objection to a deep fruity thrum especially from a V twin but for me in line fours especially, with an open exhaust have all the sound appeal of a dentists drill.

No arguing with those who will not listen. Seriously, when the shops reopen and the streets become crowded how are you going to manage. You'll go into meltdown not knowing if you've come into close contact with the un vaccinated. Again I mean no offence and forgive me being light hearted but it's a...

I've had the jab, which means I'm 90% protected against covid. Anyone who refuses the jab and intends to attend any meet ups, please let us know beforehand so I make sure I don't come. I'm still 10% at risk so I'd rather not come anywhere near you. Sorry I mean no offence but I was just imagining y...

"Isn't it up to the individual to determine their own acceptable level of risk" That's fine if the individual is the only person to pay the price for their choice, which can't be the case with a virus. Anyone who has decided to not have the vaccine should watch this. Re: Worth it do you think?

Hi Andy, Did you receive yours , is it fitted yet , what do you think of it ? Mark Well after a rocky start I finally got it. The first one I received didn't work so I sent it back to the dealer who decided to test all the one's they had and none were working. They apologised and issued a refund. F...

Bluttooth earbuds, smartphone of your choice, learn how to use voice commands. Re: Renewable energy

Sorry to sound pessimistic, but your current (!) electric car has the same environmental impact as an equivalent petrol model, until both have done at least 70,000 miles. For electric bikes, the "break even" point is even higher >100,000 miles. I do think that anyone under 50 has a pretty poor outl...

Re: I have to ask

Statistics show that we are living in a safer age than ever before nowadays. Less murder, stabbings, rape, burglary etc. It’s only social media and gutter press than make it look like we are in the seventh gate of hell. Oh I'm not so sure about that. Safer age in terms of surviving what were once f...

Renewable energy

I don't know much about this but am curious about the viability of windfarms. It seems these could end up providing a big chunk of our power in the future with our government very keen on siting them off shore. So this may sound like a stupid question but what about the cost on maintaining thousands...

Hi All, I hope that you are all keeping safe and well. Has anybody got any good tips for rubbing down and/or removing the paint from between the numerous fins on my R1100S engine? The engine is out so access isn’t a problem but getting between the fins is proving a little more challenging. Take car...

I'm just amazed at how well my pads are lasting in my R110ORS
They weren't new when I bought the bike 4 years ago and in the 20,000 or so miles I've done since they still have plenty left.
