R Nine T exhaust

Workmate has just bought the above last week, he wants to cut down the weight so is gonna buy a Pro Race GPS1 pipe for it, had a look on YouTube and it looks easy to fit, to me it just looks like dressing up the open end of the exhaust pipe after removing the end can. Also the noise it makes lends i...

Re: Wider bars

I guess it was an RS, as Dacsceilings says "the only bike in the world designed to be ridden in handcuffs". Exactly right !,,,,,,,,Had the bike for sale as the arthritis in my hands is getting worse, it did not sell, few sniffed about the add but nadda, so gonna try new bars to see if that helps, I...

Wider bars

Can anyone enlighten me ?, my R80/7 used to have a fairing which a previous owner removed, I am assuming the bars that are on it just now are different to non faired models as they are very narrow.
If I get another set will I also have to get longer throttle/clutch cables etc.

Re: The End of The Road, Well Almost

Am the same, have had broken bones in both hands and the tip missing from one of my fingers, all sustained in various " offys " in the seventies, have soldiered on for a number of years, until last week, went for a short spin, 8 miles or so, came back and could hardly bend my fingers, I need manual ...

I had a pigtail fitted to my Harley, never had any problems charging it and it never interfered with the ECU nor the alarm system.

Re: Generator light remains on

Aye get a multi meter and charge up the battery, start the bike up and put the probes across the terminals and see how many volts the alternator is pushing out.
There are some good youtube video's regarding airhead charging diagnostics.

Re: Electrical frustration

I had similar probs with my R80/7, tearing my hair out, or what's left of it, turns out a faulty connector block under the tank was the problem, the one that feeds the starter etc.

Re: Seasons Greetings

Has TV been particularly crap this Christmas or is it just me. On top of that faten has a gazillion episodes of Corrydale End to catch up on. I think I will sleep until next year. My child bride gorges on mostly American vampire or super hero type series, I can't keep up with them all cos they are ...

Re: Parasitic draw test

A couple of observations: first, check the spec for your multimeter. If you've used the 10A range there's a good chance that 0.01A is a meaningless figure. Most digital multimeters have a spec somewhere around 2-5% +/- 1 digit, so your 0.01 could well be that digit. You need to use a much lower ran...

Parasitic draw test

Ok so left the bike in the shed for a couple of weeks, went to start it the other day and, " clickety clickety ", got the meter out and battery down to around 11 volts, battery looks quite new so charged it up fully and did a parasitic draw test, meter set at 10 amps showed battery drawing 0.01 of a...

So, how many of you are driving cars you don't need. Bomber Harris I think almost admits that the small ones aren't bad. The grief I get at work for having a Wagon R. I don't drive it like the typical Wagon R driver, so people beware if you try to bully your way through as does happen with some tru...

Re: 4 wheel Petrol consumption and running costs. Moan!

I have a 10 year old Nissan Qashqai 1.6, comfortable to drive, around 35 to 40 mpg, Mrs has a Dacia Sandero Stepway, it has a wee turbo charged 900cc engine, 30 quid to tax, I was a bit dubious of it at first but took a test drive and was pleasantly surprised, good on motorways as well,Mrs loves it,...

Well today was a good day, fitted the new neutral switch after, removing the bolt and spacer, works as it should now, tommoz I will be getting rid of the block connector that's snagging the steering and fitting new connections to the starter relay. If the weather is not to bad will take it for a sho...

Re: R80/7 starting issue

How did you get the switch out without removing the gearbox, did you knock the alloy spacer around the rear engine mount out after removing the bolt? Also you should be able to start the engine even if you are in gear by pulling the clutch lever in, at least on my RS you can There does not seem to ...

Re: R80/7 starting issue

Those handlebar switches are really crap. I just took mine off and binned them.
Possibly the previous owner binned the clutch switch, am sure when I looked at the wiring diagram the four speed was fitted with one but my one, five speed, does not.
