Re: Engine bogging down

Just had a thought on this. When you say increase the revs are we talking of giving it a fistful or you a tiny tweak of the throttle?

Re: Engine bogging down

I'd tend to agree with John. Pretty good chance that the problem is caused by those silencers. If you have the originals just stick them on and you'll at least prove that one way or another.

Re: Max oil temp

I guess you mean a 150psi sender? I did not realise the oil pressure was so high in these engines.
The oil pressure relief valve opens at 70psi but on a cold engine you'll often see 120psi with a few revs

Re: something in the way

It's a screwed collar to hold the diff seal in place. To do the job properly you need to remove the diff and unscrew the collar

Re: Max oil temp

I have no idea of the max temp but the simple facts are that for normal usage the correct rated 20/50 mineral oil will work just as intended unless you're stuck in a traffic jam in 35-40C temps in which case the slight rattle from the engine will let you know that you need to let it cool down a litt...

You need to tweak the clamp inside the idicator - just slightly flatten it out.

Re: No oil flow from rocker.

It's what I'd do. It's not under high pressure at that point so could just be a touch of congealed oil that'll clear.

With cone filters and Megas it'll run like a bag of shit unless you do MAJOR re-jetting.

Re: No sparks again, again

There’s a big O ring there which I wonder if might be breached. I can’t see one on the Motorworks site though.
It's under Engine/O rings

Re: Crankshaft rear oil seal

NO, you can't fit the seal without removing the boss.

Warm it slightly with a blow lamp, use small mole grips on the end and twist.

Re: Elm Trees

Sometimes there are very good reasons to fell a tree. It could be unstable, it could be that the roots are damaging the bungalow or it could be (most likely) that it was dangerous in that it could fall on the bungalow.

It now seems that due to pressure felling company have voluntarily halted felling until further environmental studies are undertaken to see if there actually are Red Squirrels there. https://www.dailypost.co.uk/news/north- ... d-14953139

Re: Elm Trees

It's an old Elm copplice, George. Coppice an Elm and it diverts it's energy to sending up new shoots either from the stump or it's roots - this is two original shoots from the same stool that, at some point have melded themselves into one trunk.

Re: Urgent advice needed with Euro trip looming !!

If memory serves it's a bit of a fiddle to get the unit off BUT with care and plenty of rags to protect paintwork it can be done with the unit in situ. Another big time saver is to not attempt to bleed in the traditional way - it isn't neccessary and risks getting air trapped further down the line. ...

Re: Red Sqirrel News

Yes, like most rags it's short on actual content but the only one I could find. My understanding is that the felling has already started so yes, it's in the middle of breeding season
