Re: Tirol locks out loud motorbikes

Austria has a history of using fines , I've had a speeding ticket there (in the car, issued by the regional government) which they pursued via DVLA information to me in the UK, and I seem to recall that they were issuing loads of fines to German registered vehicle's which caused a incident. I think ...

Re: YouTube

Had a quick look at the end of the final drive vid, and a few points! Preload on a taper roller bearing type FD should be 1 thou, not 0.1 of a mm which is four thou, the large bearing should be Loctited in place, and every case I have seen has has a gasket under the cover. And he did not detail how...

Re: Tirol locks out loud motorbikes

Admittedly not a immediate issue for us but a worrying trend.

How the hell will I know if a pre euro bike like my airhead is quiet enough.

According to a decision by the state government of the Austrian federal state of Tyrol, bans on motorbikes with a stationary noise of over 95 dB apply on selected routes in the Reutte district from June 10 and October 31, 2020 . The initiative is based on the results of a study on noise pollution on...

BMW Motorrad has started a worldwide recall for various models because some components can accidentally come into contact with the rear wheel. Re: Left cylinder smoking on my 1980 R65

Cheers Rob, I was going on experience with cars, it's nearly 40 years since I stripped a airhead head due to accident damage and my memory isn't as good as I wish !
So would that indicate guide wear ?

Re: Left cylinder smoking on my 1980 R65

It’s the decelerate bit that gets me !?
That's the bit that makes me think valve stem seal, vacuum on overrun pulling oil into combustion chamber.

Re: So what are you up to during this enforced hobby time?

I've been testing out a old tgb scooter today it was one my kids long since forgotten bikes, so far I've found a broken kickstart spring, a electrical fault , dead battery and front brake master cylinder faulty. Not sure if it's worth spending the money on but I'll give it a go, if I can sort the el...

Re: 2016 S1000rr on 1300 miles but not serviced..

Hi Dan,

Welcome to the forum,

I doubt if any harm has been done if it is low mileage, but I would get it into a well regarded indi BMW workshop for a service and a once over, for safety and peace of mind.

Re: Latest Covid 19 News for Motorcyclists in England

Are you saying that there is a flu epidemic as well ? I'm a bit confused, if it's not covid or covid related deaths, what's causing all the extra non confirmed covid deaths above what we have had in previous years ?

Re: Latest Covid 19 News for Motorcyclists in England

I'm a bit pissed off , I live within 10 mins of some of the best bike roads in the UK ( Brecon beacons park) and I'm not allowed out to play as Wales has different rules and as if to rub salt in the weather is glorious ! On Friday I was due to go on the fantastic Welsh week and instead I will be lo...

Re: So what are you up to during this enforced hobby time?

Love the MZ 250, I had one like the one above which was great fun except when I didn't kick it over hard enough, then the engine (unknown to me) would run backwards and then hit me in the nuts with that massive tank when I went to pull away ! I seem to remember a measure for 2 stroke built into the ...

Re: So what are you up to during this enforced hobby time?

I am a cash person. I used to do Internet banking with HSBC and it worked perfectly. For god knows what reason they changed it so that I needed to carry a crappy little calculator that was supposed to give me a number in order to enter it every time I wanted to do anything. It failed to work and le...

Re: Denuding a R100RT

On boxer2valve YouTube William strips a RT and turns it into a S tribute bike, it includes fairing removal , moving ignition switch, indicators and wiring, it may be helpful. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLXo0yJ7WoKftXzm0zXBlaxDnNpARiWTqx Mark Sent from my motorola one vision using Tapatalk
