Re: Sammy Miller Museum

Sorry to hear our trip has been cancelled. However, I would probably have had to cancel too. My new bike is due to be delivered around then and I wouldn't have wanted to make a trip like that while running in a new bike. Conversely, I wouldn't want to put all those miles on the RT immediately before...

Re: Northern Meet at the Highland Folk Museum,Newtonmore this Sunday 13th September 2020

I'll try plugging my wonderful, hi-tech Samsung phone into my wonderful hi-tech MacBook Air computer and, who knows, I may be able to drag & drop. Won't the file size still be too large ? I'm trying to sound as if I know what I'm talking about, but I can't even be sure I can take a picture with my w...

Re: Northern Meet at the Highland Folk Museum,Newtonmore this Sunday 13th September 2020

..... Looks like fun. Hopefully I’ll get to the next meeting. . Yes, it was fun. I have a picture of Tincan3 with his Atlatl (looking a little like William Tell). When I figure out how to get that photo off my phone, I'll post it ..... #-o Not all the Northern Meets are as much fun, but they're all...

Re: Those clever Germans

. One of my dogs was sold to us (at a fairly substantial price) as a "Goldendoodle". Her mother was a golden retriever crossed with a poodle. She was then crossed with a poodle to give us a three quarters poodle, one quarter golden retriever mongrel - still being referred to as a Goldendoodle. When...

Re: Sat Navs

......I've been over it a couple of times, it is pretty impressive. Mind you, the motorway up from Beziers, N85 I think, is a beautiful sweeping ride through the mountains, 1000 metres above sea level. Absolute bliss on a warm sunny day, I was just riding along, gobsmacked at the scenery and the sh...

..... half way between Paris and the Pyrenees. I think they have built the mother of all bridges over that valley now but I have never seen it. Could that be Viaduc de Millau ? If so, you should make the effort to go and see it. You have to pay a small toll to cross it but it is definitely worth it...

Re: Proposed Northern Meets for 2020

. Although I live only half an hour from the Pillars of Hercules farm shop, I had never been - or even heard of it. I took a longer, roundabout, route to get there and still arrived 30 minutes early - and found Tincan3 already there, parking his outfit. We walked in the direction of the shop / cafe...

Re: Proposed Northern Meets for 2020

. I'm just back from a trip around parts of England and Scotland - which included a stop at Castle Stalker View. The torrential rain had gone off when we stopped and the visit was therefore very enjoyable. My only issue with it as a venue for a Northern Meet is that, for me, it would mean setting o...

His shop used to be in Dundee, where his son Rory would play with toys.
Mike built bikes for him to race and he is now winning British Supersport races.
Mike is a great mechanic and a gentleman.

Re: Proposed Northern Meets for 2020

I'm currently travelling but should be available for a meet on the 30th. If Ceres is not an option I have heard good things about Macgregors market in Killin - but it would have to be checked out to see if it is open and suitable. Or, somebody who has never been to a Northern meet could suggest some...

not room for another bike, but if any make, light 150Kg, moderate power 35bhp, was to come up for a grand I could be tempted. Does that mean I'm getting old and weak?

Re: using the centre stand on 83 rs is a two man job!

. Once the bike is on the centre stand (on level ground) and with the front tyre on the deck, look at the clearance between the rear tyre and the deck. If it's more than a couple of inches, the stand is too long or (more likely) the suspension is too short. If the rear tyre is well clear of the dec...

Is it possible that the suspension has been lowered with shorter shocks, or the forks raised through the yokes ?

Re: inexperience and not reading road

. Is there a connection between these two posts and the YouTube clip ? I've watched the clip twice now and I can't see any connection between the two fallen bikes and either the road works or ABS brakes. Roads like the Stelvio are a technical challenge, particularly for riders short on experience a...
