Re: Fork dust wiper packing grease?

Personally, straying slightly off.... as the forks are off, I’d fit gaiters and spray the sliders with ACF50 before fitting. I did this and 7 years later, the sliders were the same and the ACF was still visible. To answer your question, if it were me, I’d use Corrosion Block. It is made by ACF50 peo...

Re: Hard to start.

I’ve had the early R65 carbs with the ‘un-modified’ choke and also had the later carbs on the same bike with the ‘modified’ choke; vast difference. Someone can post the article I’m sure, it’s a mod to the holes. Now this isn’t your issue, but it goes to show and like Mjolinor says, if the holes aren...

Re: Hard to start.

I’ll go back to my old favourite. Another carb clean.

I’m pretty fastidious when it comes to carbs, but there was once when I had to do it three times!

Vibration when running will make fuel flow, just in case it is a slightly bent brass arm on the float.

Re: Hard to start.

Could be crud.
Could be float touching side of bowl.
Could be brass tube from bottom of bowl slightly bent, touching something; float.

Re: Breaking News: Northerner terrifies Londoners

I was told that southerners take longer to let you in, but when you’re in, the bond is strong.

I don’t agree with that, but George, as you say, not possible to put one’s finger on it.

Re: Breaking News: Northerner terrifies Londoners

I’ve been in the south since 79.

It’s hard to put a finger on it. I don’t think they are less friendly, but I think they joke less, or just less jovial.

Or they could have just seen some of Mjolinor’s posts and think..... nah... I’ll stay here

Re: Rt Fairing lug repairs

I’m aware JB offer many products, but used their High Heat stuff last week and it didn’t work. To be fair, I wasn’t expecting it to, but their blurb said you could tap it, drill it etc. There is the possibility I didn’t mix it enough; I’m sure I did. There is the possibility that as it was the start...

Re: About The Efficiency Of Crash Bars

That picture of your wrist...... I went over the bars in December onto a lady’s bonnet and onto the floor.
I count myself very lucky that I only had slight pain to my wrist; occasionally still do.
Sorry about your accident.

Re: Loud Pipes Save Lives... Really?

Rob, I totally understand the reasoning behind the proactive approach, it’s certainly easier. I just think 20 mph (for a competent driver) is far too slow for a road; bear in mind a sprinter can run faster then that. hitting someone at 20 hurts less. Yes of course hitting someone at 20mph hurts less...

Re: Loud Pipes Save Lives... Really?

I always leave a large space in front, always have done, it annoys me no end to see vehicles so close they look like they are towing each other. Last week I had a puckering moment. Picture not to scale, gap between cars was bigger. I saw the car stopped in the road indicating to turn right into the...

Probably sounds silly, but I’ve generally removed them, due to the time they add to servicing.... I know, I know, crazy.

I feel the same about 20mph zones. They penalise everyone rather than harsh penalties for the individual who causes the accident.

Sorry Barry, you’re right. I didn’t realise, unless the advert is wrong, that the R65 came with a double; early models didn’t, possibly late.
