Re: Hedingham damper unit
Hi Dessie, Along with all the sound advice above, something else that can affect both handling and comfort is the age/condition of the tyre. I replaced the one on my XL a couple of years ago and J. says it absolutely transformed her ride. The one I replaced was ancient to say the least and there was...

Re: Panniers
The right hand one will fit, but the R has a higher exhaust than the RS and needs a pannier with the cut-out on the left. (I'm pretty sure . . . . :-" )

I just ordered one - for that sort of money it can sit on the shelf until it's needed.

Re: New screen transforms bike.... R1150RT
I am extremely jealous of you, sir about the performance of your 'screen #-o . I suppose at some point in the future I shall have to try a 1200RT - I'm told by friends who've owned them that the weather protection on them is second to none, but I do like my relatively simple 1100RS. Choices, comprom...

Re: New screen transforms bike.... R1150RT
I bought one for my R1100RS - it made not one iota of difference, but I now have four different 'screens for that bike. I'm not saying that the 'screen is no use - I'm just coming to the conclusion that my ears are particularly sensitive to certain frequencies - I needed earplugs on my K1200LT and a...

How did you guess
. In fairness, the System 6 does have a more compact shell than some other helmets.

Re: Helmets that fit into System panniers ?
BMW System 6 helmets fit in the top box and the left pannier on my '02 R1100RS - just come back from trip to Dunoon - used the top box as a helmet store when parked up, and to save me carrying the lid up to my cabin on the ferry.

Re: Flip Front Helmets. Waste of time!!!
I've been using flip fronts for many years now - Vemar, Carberg, Nolan, System 5 and now System 6. I bought the first one because I was instructing at the time and it made a lot of sense to be able to clear my face for a debrief during a lesson. It's also easier to put on a flip front if you wear gl...

Re: Farewell
I've had a couple of M21s over the years The first one in the 60s, my first outfit, the second in the 80s. That one took me to Germany and back (just!) and finished up with a Velorex chair - swapped it for my first BMW, an R65, in the early 90s. Solid bikes - lets face it, not too much to go wrong w...

Re: MRA Screens R1150 RS
Stevie - I've been messing about with various screens and settings over a lot of years, and have never achieved that 'quiet ride'. I'm beginning to think that either it's just me (I needed ear plugs on a K1200 LT . . . . . ) or the mirrors on the RS are affecting the turbulence. I know it's never go...
