Re: K1100 Wheels

I was thinking of just doing the rear wheel to aid Tyre choice, and if it only a 3.3mm difference and a direct fit i may give it a go.

Thanks for all your advise.

K1100 Wheels

Hello i have a 1998 LT and was considering putting an RS rear wheel on to make Tyre choice easier, are these a straight fit, i understand the fronts are more difficult to fit.

also are there any down sides to fitting just the rear, does it alter the ride for the better or worse.

Re: K1100LT facelift

My brother fitted a HID kit to his K1100, it was terrible, too bright, drivers flashing him thinking he had full beam on, 747s trying to land on the stretch of road he was lighting up, it may of needed adjustment but soon got removed.

Re: Bike awareness

You should see the blackwall tunnel in the morning, bikes filter at speed, cars swapping lanes, i have to commute by car but took the bike once and it was the other motorcyclist that were making me nervous as said i moved and let them through.

I have just done my fork seals, best tool I bought was a seal driver, slides over the leg and pushes the seal in, complete job took me around 1.5hrs, good luck with yours.

Re: Insurance

I might look into the agreed value, its not about the premium but if my bike is involved in an accident I would want to repair it, second hand parts are available but new not, fully comp I believe they write it off as such low value.

Insurance

I am in the process of insuring my bike and my question is. Is it worth going fully comp on a K1100LT, they will not repair it if I was to have an accident so is TPFT a better option for an older bike, there is around £40 difference in price but both have same excess, legal protection, breakdown etc...

Back on a BMW

Well after a couple of years on a Honda Varadero I have bought another K1100LT, it does everything I want without the big depreciation you get with use on Jap bikes, will being doing lots of searching and asking silly questions again but its like sitting in an old armchair.

I love flip front helmets but find in very heavy rain the visor can let a little moisture in.

Re: Riding in the Wet

I cant say I enjoy the wet but mainly due to other road users, on motorways you leave a sensible gap for some idiot (normally Audi or other German manufacturer) to jump in it, coupled with my conti road attacks that don't inspire confidence in the wet.

Maybe he is old enough to remember Lucas mechanical fuel injection and it has left him scarred for life.
My old triumph 2.5PI was I nightmare, run completely different every time you turned the key even with new metering unit, injectors and lines.

Biking is going to be a thing of the past soon, to difficult and expensive to get your licence now adays, it needed to be tightened up but personally I thinks its to pricey now.

K1100 Values

been looking on ebay and wondering why K1100 values seem to be dropping like a lead balloon, they are such a capable bike but are selling for peanuts at present, are they more popular in the winter or is it due to the nice weather as they can chuck out a bit of heat.

I have an 1100LT and changed the fork oil to 10w and find I have more feel on bends and don't know how to explain it but doesn't dive as quick, feels slightly slower on compression as it felt soft or weak before, as I said I can't really explain it but made the front feel better for very little mone...
