Re: TDC or OT valve position

Hi, Mark Block a sparkplug hole with your finger as you turn the engine over and feel for compression, when the piston is at or very near the top, check the clearances on that side, and have a look at where the OT mark is, if you`re doubting the clutch carrier is mounted correctly. If the bike was r...

Bad luck/good luck

Hi, guys Just had to share this quick story. In Switzewrland the MOT test is carried out every 2 years and usually at longer intervals, depending on how busy it is etc. This time, due to the Scamdemic, it has been 3 years and 8 months since my last one, so I got tghe notice about 5 weeks ago informi...

Re: Main jet and slide needle on 40mm Bing 105/106

Hi, Kevin
I would just try it and see how it runs and what your plugs look like.
Good luck with it.

Re: Monoshock final drive

Yeah, John
For very long trips, I usually take tbe K100, but I do big miles on the small roads here in the
Jura mountains on the R80, so maybe I`ll let it be for a while. Might have a look at that
FD anyway as I don?t think I`ll ever sell my Airhead.

Re: Monoshock final drive

Thanks, Roy
I was thinking myself that the play was not too bad. Still tempted by this shiny new one at that price.
I`Ve asked the seller why he`s selling it and he hasn`t yet replied, that may be because my french is
a bit rusty and it came across a bit impolite.
Thanks

Re: Monoshock final drive

Thanks, Rob Yeah, the bike has 107,000 miles on the clock and I`ve done half of them. It is rocking play and if I`m not mistaken, it seems to change as the wheel is rotated, in some places it is barely perceptible and in others a bit less than 1mm between the wheel hub and the FD. Maybe I`ll just li...

Monoshock final drive

Hi, Guys I just wanted a few opinions about my final drive situation. The bike is a1985 R80RT U.K. Spec. Monoshock. While changing the rear tyre yesterday, I noticed some play in the final drive i.e. 12 o`clk and 6 it`s a bit less than 1 mm and 3 o`clk and 9 it`s about the same. First question is, h...

Re: K100 front wheel off centre?

No, I didn`t know that, Rob, thanks. I was looking at motorworks/bins/sherlock and they only seem to have used parts, so I sourced a new one locally. Expensive but it will come quickly. I remembered that I hit something on the road years ago and buckled the front wheel, I`M guessing that`s when the ...

Re: K100 front wheel off centre?

Thanks, Rob I think I've found the problem...bent spindle! The spindle has probably been bent since I got the bike but hasn't been noticed as it hasn't caused problems. I think this time with the new pads and discs and the spindle being in the worst position it has been worse. I moved the spindle ab...

K100 front wheel off centre?

Hi, fellas I recently changed both front discs and pads on my K100 and now the wheel is not spinning freely when lifted off the ground. It is rubbing the brake pads (the right one in each caliper) I measured the distances from the seam in the fork and the wheel is off to the right by a bit more than...

I don't know who told you it was free. It will be paid for with tax payers money.
And every government who buys it has signed an agreement for the same tax payers to underwrite
any compensation claims against the pharma companies.

Hi, Jaythro I don't know anything about nanobots, but when certain powerful people and their associated organizations warn me that something is going to happen, sometimes in great detail, like with Event201 hosted by The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in October 2019. Re: Electronic ignition and Spark Plugs

Hi, Draper before investigating the ignition system, I would try it with a fresh battery (or jump it from a car battery), fresh petrol and make sure your valve clearances are correct. Without correct voltage and compression, it won`t really matter what the ignition is doing. Good luck with it. Ride ...

Re: Soldering iron

Maybe I`ll wait until the one I bought in 1978 with `made in england`stamped on it stops working.
It does take it longer to heat up with the lower mains voltage in Switzerland, but that usually gives me time to
think about what I`m doing.

Thanks for posting, DD. Absolutely wonderful work, both the restoration and the video. I was not aiming to produce something as beautiful as this Ural, just a functional...

If you're over 70 you'll probably die? Really?
So, most people over 70 who get a positive PCR-test will die?
Scary stuff!

Has anyone noticed that the rich and powerful are kind of avoiding their vaccinations? Trump `rescheduled`the Whitehouse staff`s planned vaccination for a future date. If the covid19 measures are not designed to protect lives, and clearly they are not, then the only possible purpose
is to promote blind, unquestioning obedience and demolish the economy, in which case, it is extremely successful.

Re: I have to ask

I think that the registration/confirmation process will become the major issue. It's going to come down to restricting freedoms of the people who refuse the vaccination, this will, of course, place great importance on how they are identified. If you watch the pandemic 'simulation' called 'Event 201'...

I find you can feel the slider through the gaiter and feel if it is slippy or not.
Gives a good indication if your sliders are wet.
I fitted gaiters to both my k100 and R80 and am very pleased. The forks are very well protected
and it suits the look of both bikes.
