Re: Newbie from Wiltshire, UK

A good start is replacing the cam chain tensioner for the updated version. Easy enough to do but read up on it before you get the spanner out...I had to grind a bit off mine to give enough clearance to make it fit. (you tube has a good video) Also be prepared for a clunky gearbox! (earplugs solve th...

Re: Sheepskin seat covers

Maybe try a cheap bead seat first...? I used an air hawk, sheepskin and bead seat on a 12,000 mile trip and the bead seat won hands down... and it was the cheapest! (although it did allow a cool draft to the nether regions!) The air Hawk was very good but a bit too "wobbly" for my liking and a bit s...

It is a bit of a pain (you can use preview on a mac to reduce the picture size) but if you use the "tapatalk" app it does it all for you... much quicker.

Re: 1200RTSe

Gogs and Lurchio have pretty much hit the nail on the head. I have a 2006 model (way below your budget) and it has suffered from the things mentioned. Final drive needed to be re-built, servo brakes have now been removed (costs nothing but took me all day) and some have EAS issues but it has now don...

Re: New BMW owner

Welcome Paul... ref the brakes, I believe a regular flush is advised but I did mine and shortly afterwards a persistent fault occurred and I ended up removing the abs/servo gubbins. Maybe I flushed some muck about!!! Can't help with engine coating.. others will soon! Not sure where you are in the Uk...

Re: Brake caliper o ring size

Do they need to be the special "Viton" O rings... I had to buy some for a fuel tap recently and was told ordinary rubber O rings were not suitable. Not sure if that is the case in this application?

Hi, I have removed my abs/servo system but only after a series of persistent faults. Do you have any current warning lights or does it just need to be flushed as per the maintenance schedule?

Re: A little jaunt round Wales.

I used the sticky string repair recently when I picked up a nail and spotted it in a motorway service station. I was delighted that it was much easier and quicker to use than I thought and provided an immediate seal. I did inflate the tyre with some of the Holts tyre repair stuff but it did not get ...

Re: Texas to Alaska - Summer 2017

No rest for the wicked! The bike desperately needed a clean but this apartment has no facilities so I took it to the local car wash. Glad I did as any activity in this heat kills me! They did a really good job and it looks as good as new! I need to get another new rear tyre and maybe a chain but tha...

Re: Texas to Alaska - Summer 2017

Now in my last motel (Sweetwater TX) and glad I got here early due to immense thunderstorms!!! Only 400 miles to to Houston. Really tired tonight so just watching TV. The heat is unbelievable and I cannot ride past 1400. The bike is still running sweet but the new rear tyre is worn out! Never though...
