Re: Battery help

Ahh, sorry Mjolinor, I didn’t scroll down to see that. So, even without popping out to the shed to test, we’re going to drop from 90% state of health.... Looks like a battery may be on the cards.... As I’ve discovered you need to remove four countries and a bazillion body panels, including windscree...

Battery help

Just got my new bike and turn over was sluggish. Using my Topdon, I don’t know what equates to the battery spec. There are other things to buy for this bike and at the moment, I’d rather not buy a battery..... yet.... If you look at the first picture, I left the CCA at 360. Obviously wrong and it gi...

Didn’t realise that Syntrax was GL5. Still, my short answer was correct, just forgot to mention GL5!

Re: Oil question.

I’m going to stay out of the engine oil debate. But...... gearbox, final drive, shaft..... this should be Hypoid oil. Take a look here for example: https://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.php?T=5&NU=15&M=20&Ct=XA&SbCt=BA_15_20_XA_50 Or the owner’s manual: https://www.r90s.info/Articles/Slash6_...

Didn't say you were John, just making the point that, as we get older, we view things from a very different perspective!

Re: Worth it do you think?

Plastic does have its advantages. It's very light and never rusts. It falls apart long before a steel one would rust away generally speaking. Oh I dunno My 1999 R110ORS has a lot of plastic including the tank and certainly isn't falling apart. You have to ride it for it to fall apart

Well, it pains me to say this, I agree with Rob

I recall him being pretty close to a bike which looked like it may change direction at any time.

Re: R100RS/R100RT values

Now you see why I had to forget Airheads whilst buying a new bike!!! £2000 for a wreck! Same reason I couldn’t go British; except Bantam. I can appreciate to some buyers, they buy a bike as an investment, like a painting. I could never buy a bike as an investment, as I ride them and therefore the va...

Re: Worth it do you think?

Yes the Bullet maybe out of time, but I wanted a bike to keep me grounded. A bike as they were. I never wanted to go so far back to carbide lighting and hand change, but something that would remind me of past tech. The bullet is about the only ‘as they were’ bikes available. It would be nice to have...

Re: Worth it do you think?

Always fancied the DT400, same sort of price as R75s now! That was an XR400 I was on in Portugal. I went three times, loved it. Problem with living on the south coast is the very limited off road areas. So I’ve spent years purely on road. My first biking experience was in the desert. My first bike a...

Re: Worth it do you think?

Well at least you'd be quicker on foot than on your Bullet 350 😂😂😂 I don't suppose on that if you get a puncture it makes any difference to the handling Would you like to try me on a bit of off roading.... on my Johnny Brittain inspired Bullet.... Re: I’ve opened a singles bar!

Nice looking bike John, don't worry about the shims tappets there easy to do. As long as you have a micrometer. I’ve done shims Barry, but given the choice..... At least like the last shim bike I had, I should be able to get this into the shed. If I had a whole shim kit, then doing it outside would...

Re: I’ve opened a singles bar!

Thanks all. Not arrived yet, but I’ve looked at them in the past. Always thought they were a nice bike in the riding sense, but I was always put off because of my anal ludditedness; new word. It’s always been the water cooling and shim tappets that put me off. A low seat seat height, whilst not too ...

The waits at Blackburn are reported to be in the four hour range. Probably hoping that some of the prospective recipients will have frozen to death before they get to the front.

And if they test positive for Covid, it’ll be reported as a Covid death.........

I’ve opened a singles bar!

Well, this is not what I was going to buy, but..... So Gupta and Ari, my 350 and 500 bullets had a conference and said that the old Kawasaki 4 cylinder I was going to buy would not get an invite to the party. So.... I got another single! A good compromise would be one of these. About 50kg lighter than an 1100 but with pretty much the same potential luggage capacity and weather protection and a beautifully smooth motor https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-K75RT-ULTIMA-GENUINE-20441-MLS-FROM-NEW-DOCUMENTED-HISTORY-FILE/154323844248?hash=it...

Re: Travel Insurance

That’s under ‘Activities’. I’d question is going on holiday by bike is an activity, it is your travel method, not activity. That’s my summation, but I’d change insurers if they pushed it:

Re: R60/6 swinging arm bearing access.

If you’re worried about marking the frame, due to the cheap cost of the plastic covers, I’d carefully drill a hole in the middle, not too deep and then stick a screwdriver in or a hook and rip it off.

Re: R100RS/R100RT values

Bizarrely, it ended up between a Strada and..... the Japanese one I’m going for. My wife wasn’t keen on the Breva and for reasons I don’t want to discuss, the Breva seat is similar to the Transalp seat and for me....... there was an issue... This is what I almost got: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Moto...

Re: R100RS/R100RT values

Tomorrow, I’m buying a bike. Not only is it not the bike I was looking at, it is a make I’ve never had. Since I got the money for my Transalp that was written off, I was in the position to but any bike I wanted.... well, any bike of about £3 to £4000. Last bike purchase for a while, a chance to get ...
