Fairing parts "well nuts"

Postby andymcg » Sat Sep 01, 2018 11:28 am

Hi,
I am trying to reduce the wobble on the fairing on Walter my 30yr old K75s.
I have removed the fairing and have found that some of the plastic (nylon?) expanding insets have split and fallen out. Well past design life I guess so no complaint.
They seem to be available from Motorworks part no FAA51393 but they want £1.20 each!
they can only cost a few pennies to make, I wonder if anyone has found a cheaper source or has a bag of them!
Can't order till Monday anyway so thought I would ask. Local motor factor doesn't have them. Ebay shows lots of the round rubber type but not these ones that go in a square hole.
seehttps://www.motorworks.co.uk/vlive/Shop/Parts.p ... 0&spPage=2
I know it is silly to quibble about a few quid but it is annoying to see a small cheap part that is apparently so over priced. I suppose it is what it does, not what it is you pay for!

Hi Andy,

The price also reflects that the item has to be purchased, stocked and put on the website for what might be a low-turnover item but is stocked as a service to BMW owners.

Fair point.
In fact another of the local motor factors “though he had something like that in the back” sure enough he returned with a very similar plastic plug and I got 4 for a pound (no receipt)
One of bolts holding headlamp bracket to the centre support was missing. Replaced and fairing much more solid now!

Local factor showed me catalogue from
https://www.connect-consumables.co.uk/
They have an amazing range of trim clips etc often in bags of 50 though.
May be of use for some parts.
