The renovation of my ‘98 R1100S continues and I have found that the shroud around the wiring loom is cracked or is missing in many areas. Some repairs have been done using insulating tape but as you would expect this is now oozing adhesive and so all of the coverings need to be removed and replaced.
The loom is off the bike and so I was thinking of cleaning everything up including the connectors and replacing the shroud with either fabric loom tape or self amalgamating tape but before I start this work has anybody got any recommendations for alternative methods of protecting the wires? Has anybody had any success with the expandable woven shrouds for example?
Stay safe
Mike

Re: Loom shroud
You could use this type of sleeve. You can get it in different sizes.

I’ve used this tape on my 1150 switch wiring. Seems to last ok.

That's the real deal.
Do not use self amalgamating tape, it does not last.

Re: Loom shroud
Thank you all very much for your suggestions and advice.
It looks like the fabric loom tape is definitely the way to go.
Take care all
