I'll be in Biggar on Sunday - possibly alone !

I'm hoping somebody will look at the weather, realise how good the roads are in Dumfries and Galloway, and get the bike out for a run to the Aroma Coffee House. Fingers crossed !

Good luck on your run - 26 1/4 miles  - just remember, the last 1/4 mile is the worst !!

Sadly I'll be unable to come... about the relevant time I shall be passing (roughly) overhead in a Queasy Jet Airbus.

I'll get to meet y'all one day.

Have a good one.

Wish it was a holiday... just going 'darn sarf' for a do... which would be OK if I wasn't taking antibiotics so, for me, it's going to be a 'dry' do. ](*,)

.....
So, a "holiday" from alcohol then ? .....

You should ask your doctor if that's a "must" - I've asked in the past and got the response that it's "advisory". The alcohol has no effect on (some) antibiotics, but the doctor knows it has an effect on (most) people ..... :drunken:

Good man !

I almost made sure I wouldn't be able to come tomorrow - I went to the garage yesterday to re-fit the panniers and discovered that the bike's battery was completely flat !!
After my trip to Jerez I'd cleaned the bike and left it in the garage with the top box open to air, forgetting that this bike has a light inside the top box - which, when left burning for long enough, will completely drain the battery.
The bike has another trick in that, although it will allow the battery to be charged via the auxiliary socket, this only seems to apply if there is enough charge in the battery to allow the bike's electronic brain to work.
So, it was off with a bit of bodywork (I had to check the manual to find out where the battery was !), and a flying lead was made up and attached to the battery to allow charging under any circumstance.
As I write, the voltage is up to over 11v so, with another 16 hours of charging before I have to set off for Biggar, I'm reasonably confident that my forgetfulness (senility ?) won't stop me enjoying a run tomorrow.

With these antibiotics, it's a must. They are because of a tick bite that didn't clear up... needless to say the fear is Lymes Disease... so I'm not messing about. It's by the book on this one (or the little slip of paper in the pill packet).

Very sensible !
My run through to Biggar was interesting, I was ready early and took a zig-zag route through Fife in glorious sunshine. When getting close to the approach roads for the QE2 bridge I rode into a bank of haar which gradually became thicker, colder and wetter to the point where I stopped at services on the bypass. Refuelled, warmed up with a Costa (fortune) coffee and put on my waterproof jacket before continuing on towards Biggar.
The haar eventually cleared south of Edinburgh, so back to glorious sunshine, and I was glad to shed some layers when I parked up.
Four bodies at the Aroma coffee house for a blether, but I can't recommend the " soup and bread roll" - the lentil soup had very little taste and the bread roll looked like it had been revived from frozen in a microwave. It was hot, and had the consistency of rubber. I can't imagine what a French visitor would make of that .....
I had a look (and listen) to the gaggle of classic bikes parked just up the road, then followed jockboxer towards Edinburgh where we went our separate ways. The haar had greatly reduced and the ride home was straightforward and very pleasant - and the bike had no after-effects from my battery-flattening escapades !

Glad that you made it unscathed to Biggar and back, sorry that the soup taste was poor! I managed the Edinburgh Marathon in 4hrs 54mins & 12secs and today I’m resting!

Cracking day. Good to meet a'body. There was another couple on a restored R80/7 also but they were too polite to come over and join in? Well it was quite busy in the caff. Given the weather, maybe a cairry oot and a blether in the sunshine and a look at the classics would have been a better idea? Hindsight, as always!
