Hi,

Around a 300 mile round trip for me so I'm not making promises but weather, 'er indoors, hay fever and other commitments permitting, I'll try to be there...

That would be great if you can be there Rob - big trip I know but the Sunday weather here is forecast (XCWeather.co.uk) to be no rain, light winds, full sun after midday, temp 17C and 1027mb.

I hope to be there too (in car).

I sympathise with the hay fever problem - the pollen has got me as well.

The ride down from near Edinburgh (Straiton) on the A701 is really attractive and brings you into the North end of Moffat High Street - park by the bronze Moffat Ram statue in the central parking area and the cafe is opposite on the East side.

There is a Spitfire in a garden on the South end opposite the Esso station and into the Glebe.

PS: Don't forget to check the Drain Plug!

I'm currently down in Suffolk and my plan is to be heading north tomorrow (Saturday )
If things go to plan I'll stop over tomorrow night within a couple of hours of Moffat then drop in at the rumblin tum on my way home to Dundee.
Fingers crossed, I'll see you all there.

I think I've decided to bite the bullet and do the M80, M74 to get there... though I may well do Aberfeldy/Crieff/Braco to avoid the boring A9... otherwise I'll have to start too early.

The return will be a different story. The A702, over the Forth Bridge and the Tay Bridge looks quite attractive with several options from Dundee.

Anyone thinking of going via the M9/M90/M80 around Edinburgh Airport area should be aware that the Royal Highland Show is on at the showground... Might be a bit busy...

If coming from the north, cut through sunny West Lothian via Linlithgow and Whitburn and over to Biggar and then Moffat. If there is a large ish turn out can i suggest an outdoor blether after any eats? The weather looks good and the caff may be (almost certainly will be) busy.

The 21st annual Moffat Classic Car Rally Open Day is being held on the same day as our Meet only 10 mins walk from the cafe.

The outdoor Rally (Show) starts at 1030hrs at the Moffat Showground (at Hammerlands, on the A708 road to Selkirk) with the prizes being presented at 1500hrs.

This is a very good show for anyone interested in old cars (almost 1000 on display) and well worth attending.

Another great Northern Meet at Moffat today in warm, sunny weather.

Some of the riders did some pretty serious mileage to get there:

Rob [Rob Frankhamr] from Kinloch Rannoch.
Phil [P-K] returning home from Oban.
Gordon [gogs01] returning home from Surrey.

The chat was good and covered a range of topics including Keith's [Ruralman] run in the Edinburgh Marathon - well done Keith!

Later Keith, myself and the good lady Irene attended the Moffat Classic Car Show where it got quite hot walking around in the sun but a superb range of cars were on display - my favourites were the Austin 7, a Morgan 3-wheeler and a Honda CX650 (plastic maggot) bike.

Thanks to all for a good day out.

A good meet - great to see some old faces and meet new ones.
I'd had a good week , riding around England and Wales and it was worth a detour on the way home to visit the Rumblin Tum. We didn't see jockboxer, so hopefully he will let us know he is ok.

For me, the joy started at 07:00 this morning watching a Pine Marten on the squirrel feeder. I know they're about but to actually see one large as life in full daylight is quite unusual.

08:30 - On the bike and away. Aberfeldy, Amulree, Crieff and Greenloaning to the A9 then a good run down the motorway to Moffatt.

The Rumbling Tum is a great cafe and it was really fantastic to meet and put names to people off the forum. I enjoyed the time and look forward to doing it again...

Return run was via the A701 to the Edinburgh by pass - what a great road!

Iced tea at the Dreghorn Services then over The Bridge and up the A92.

Missed the A915 and ended up on the A914 near Freuchie. A quick navigation stop and a cut across country to the A915 at Leven. Big mistake. The A915 has to be one of the slowest roads in the UK with 20mph speed limits and desperately slow seaside traffic... at least till Upper Largo where it turns inland towards St Andrews.

Stopped for about an hour at St Andrews to take photos, eat ice cream and laugh at the lobsters on the east beach... there'll be a few sore backs tomorrow.

Next, up to Leuchars, Over the Tay to Dundee and up through Coupar and Dunkeld to Pitlochry for a refuelling stop before turning into the wild country and home around 19:00.

Total (acording to Google) of 325 miles. A superb day, not a cloud to be seen. Here are couple of pics...

Thanks to all for the chat and especially for the warm welcome... See you again soon.

Lovely lunchtime meeting for me.
I had been in Oban for a long weekend, so made the detour to meet up for a bacon buttie.

I'd met Gordon and Ced before, but not Keith, Rob and Irene. Glad to meet them.
I got off the A74 at Gretna, then rode through Longtown, Brampton and up into the high pennines to Alston.
Then dropped down past High Force, and Middleton in Teessdale before home.

A lovely weekend and a special Sunday. thanks chaps
