You'll find the hobby mig sets do not have enough fine adjustment. I was lucky I picked up a nice Hobart 180 mig which have been dumped because it had stopped working and fixed it. Also the gasless ones are crap, you need to have gas to get a good weld with a small mig. I have used a 500 amp water cooled gasless mig which was a dream to use as long as you have it set correct.
I never did much tig weld, meanly stick and mig on all sorts of metals from 1mm to 125mm. It had to be to HGV road transport specs and one customer had my welds x-rayed because they were lifting the forklift over the heads of workers and in to the ships hold.
I tried to be normal once, worst two minutes of my life.
