Folks, I may even have a free, little pot of raw lanolin (rust preventative) for the first to turn up!

The forecast being mainly dry I opted for the Enfield and set off in good time. Six miles out of Oban the main A85 turned out to be closed between Taynuilt and Dalmally requiring a detour north to Glencoe and via Rannoch moor to Tyndrum. So, a leisurely tootle turned out to be a more brisk run but I still managed to beat Rob to it by about three or four minutes. A much needed soup, sandwiches and tea was had in leisurely fashion in the cafe with a good view of the bikes. Rob educated me about Brunel's railway along with other tales including the steamer on Loch Rannoch.
My direct route back via Lix Toll, Crianlarich, Tyndrum, Dalmally, Taynuilt was still blocked by the road closure (an overnight hit-and-run pedestrian fatality) so it was back again over Rannoch moor and through Glencoe for the coast road back south to Oban - a 270 miles return trip, my first on E10.

To add fuel to the E10 debate (sorry, couldn't help that one!): The last fill was entirely 97 yielding 93 mpg (Loch Awe-Biggar-Oban 271 miles). This fill up today, on a full tank of E10 yielded 90 mpg (for Oban-Glencoe-Loch Katrine-Tyndrum 196 miles).

Sounds like I missed a great Meet, the scenery is lovely around those roads…
I drove down to Hanley Swan in Worcestershire with the roads getting busier the closer we got…
See you in Moffat at the end of the Month.

Trossachs Pier is a great location with lots of interest to see and a good cafe. As Pete has said, I turned up shortly after him and we reopaired to the Cafe for lunch. The conversation covered many topics and was interesting enough to keep us both happy fopr a good couple of hours.

For me, the jopurney out took in Loch Tay, Killin, Glen Ogle and the run down past Loch Lubnaig before turning off The A84 at Kilmahog to Loch Katrine and the Trossachs Pier. A mere 61 miles. The weather was good but I have to say it's starting to get colder.

As we left, the rain started... that awful scottish mountain fine rain that gets in everywhere and fogs up visors so my intention to go over the Dukes Pass to Aberfoyle was abandones and I went straight back to the A84 at Kilmahog where, sods law, the rain stopped and the sun came out. In finer weather, I decidied to take a detour down through Callandar braving the inevitable Sunday afternoon traffic jam, and On to Doune. From there, the A9 took me up to Greenloanin where I hopped off onto the A822 up though Crief and on through 'Sma' Glen' for a fill up at Aberfeldy then over the hill back home. About 140 miles all told.

Hera are a few images en route...

A location that may look familiar to anyone who has followed the TV series 'Outlander' Crag Na Dun where the time travelling stones are located... except of course, they're made of expanded plastic and the only travelling they've done is to and from a warehouse somwewhere in England...
