Hi Rae,

That was a good find and very interesting!

What stood out for me is that having an antenna makes a big difference.

Also, the testing was done using Line of Sight (LOS) conditions only.
I think that use in a twisty hilly terrain could reduce the range significantly.

Nonetheless, I think it was a good performance from the Sena 20S at the current state of the Bluetooth art.

Yes Ced, the new Evo model has the aerial reconfigured and looks a bit like the BMW car fin type aerial.
In fairness you cannot expect a signal to go through mountains or around corners. I think those figures are quite impressive.

I've used BT comms for years - Sena SMH10 and more recently 20s.

Despite all of the manufacturers claims, these system are undoubtedly better when limited to one to one communications between riders who are more or less in line of sight.

Yes, they will connect larger groups of riders but the protocols are complicated, and the need for the protocols to be understood by all of the riders, tend to mitigate any added value of group conversation.

I love BT but recognise that it has limits. The big benefit of the 20s and subsequent units if that they have 2 channels, allowing an intercom conversation and music or satnav directions at the same time, rather than the conversation being cancelled with each satnav direction announcement

With the 20S Evo you have the choice of overlay or cut off depending on how you connect your Sat Nav.

Hi Rea, I hope you will do a good test as I am getting p*** off with my Cardo Q1 teamset. As it's out of warranty they don't want to know about it. So I am looking at other makes.

I am happy with the 20S Evo, went to France with my wife on the back and it worked fine. I had it set up to cut off conversation when a Sat Nav announcement come along. I have now set it up to overlay conversation with announcements, I haven't had a chance to test this setup yet and it may be a while before Melanie is on as pillion again.
Not to be pedantic as I know we all have the odd bout of dyslexia, but it's Rae not Rea.

Sorry about the Rae, my hand eye coordination when using a keyboard is bad and I keep hitting the key to the left of were I want to go. Its all to do with a neurological disorder I have. This is why I have had to go to 3 wheels as its effecting my balance as well. If I go slow its ok but I still have to check my spellings before I send any thing online.
