"Hi Gordon,
Do you fancy a ride way down south to the Sammy Miller Museum on 4th October if they let us out to play?
Regards
Keith"

I do fancy seeing the Sammy Miller Museum.
It all hinges on timing - I have a provisional plan for a two or three week UK / Ireland trip fairly soon after motorcycle travel gets back to being "normal" - which I hope will be much sooner than October. This will hopefully take my brother and me down to the South of England before heading for Ireland so, if we don't get to Sammy Miller's on that trip I would certainly consider going in October.
Do you have dates / routes etc in mind ?

Hi Gordon,
I was thinking of setting off on Saturday 3rd October and riding south down the A1 route to a campsite within riding distance of Sammy Millers Museum.
Of course this all depends on us being allowed to ride that far....
I’m aware that we also have a Northern Meet to get to at the end of that week plus I have a two week holiday planned for the subsequent two weeks....
This all maybe wishful thinking....

Keith

Well, that does sound a little complicated.
The calendar shows the visit to Sammy Miller Museum on 4th October from 12:00 to 13:00 - is that what you have in mind ? Hampshire would be a very long day ride - nine hours in the saddle for me. A stop-over at six or seven hours would mean two or three hours on Sunday, to arrive at the museum at 12:00. That could work for me. Taking two days on the way back would see us home in time to unwind for a couple of days before heading to the Trossachs, so it's definitely achievable.
How does that sound ?

Wee tip gents. If you join the British Motorcycle charitable trust, you get free entry to the SM museum and a bunch of other museums clustered around it. (Beaulieu, Tank museum etc) Went there last year but the weather was horrendous - tent got blown down, gear soaked and high tailed it back north!

Hi Guys & Gals,
I have just heard today that the Sammy Miller Museum has had to cancel all their proposed ride in's which will include our proposed BM Riders Event on the 4th October 2020:-

CANCELLED - BM Riders CLUB MEET DAY
UPDATE 15 09 2020:

Following the Government's announcement on the new Covid regulations sadly we have had to cancel all our planned Ride In events.

You can still visit the Museum Complex on a motorcycle parking in the designated car park.

Please remember to follow social distancing and the Rule of 6.

I shall have to cancel my proposed ride down south, well maybe next year?
Certainly I thought that this may be about to happen after the rule of 6 came out....
Sadly my new to me RT won't be getting a long distance ride this year.....
Role on the vaccine eh!.....

Regards
Keith

Sorry to hear our trip has been cancelled.
However, I would probably have had to cancel too. My new bike is due to be delivered around then and I wouldn't have wanted to make a trip like that while running in a new bike. Conversely, I wouldn't want to put all those miles on the RT immediately before trading it in.
Maybe next year ?
