R90S on tour

Postby R90S » Thu Aug 20, 2020 7:10 am

Just returned from 3 days in Scotland. Met my son at Inverness for a ride back home to store his bike for the winter. Nearly 900 miles and the only two problems were a puncture and an oil leak.

The R90S and an 865 Bonneville are very well matched, performance wise. Both had 68 hp new, the 90 slightly more torque. The 90 has bicycle tyres according to my son! The handling of the 90 is very good, the brakes are shocking. The Bonnie gets an extra 20 miles out of each gallon of fuel! Progress.

I can recommend Skinners Motorcycles in Perth if you need help. Saved my trip.

Well I'll go to the foot of our stairs!.. I've lived not far from Perth for 4 years... always on the lookout for good bike shops but I've never come across Skinner... I must go and have a look next time I'm down the road...

His shop used to be in Dundee, where his son Rory would play with toys.
Mike built bikes for him to race and he is now winning British Supersport races.
Mike is a great mechanic and a gentleman.

I agree, lovely man. Watched the BSB on TV, Rory was streets ahead of everybody else in his races. One to watch for the future.
