Battery Booster
As I had already mentioned, my airhead is hard to start when the temperature gets below 0c and she's not used on a regular basis.
The bikes lives under a carport, but it's not enough. This morning, after two weeks not running and last nights' temps going down to 7 below, a boost with the car battery was necessary.
So I'm considering a battery booster. They range from 50€ to 300.... Which one do I really need?
Any feedback, recommendations and tips from users would be greatly appreciated....

Re: Battery Booster
I have a couple of Lidl battery chargers. They're suitable for AGM batteries. I wouldn't put a lead acid battery in my bikes now after having damage from acid spill. Temperature -7? its an electric blanket you need!

Re: Battery Booster
Yes mate , it started it on the button, it also started my wife's 1.6 hdi Berlingo without any difficulty.
Highly recommended, only down side is that it's only available when they are doing a motoring promotion, it is available on that basis in Lidl branches across Europe.

Re: Battery Booster
The latest version comes with a bigger battery and a foam lined zip up case, which is ideal to protect it if you carry it on the bike on tour etc.

Re: Battery Booster
Hi CV I purchased a DBPOWER 500A 10800mAh Portable Car Jump Start on Amazon a couple of years ago, unfortunately it is no longer listed but there a lot of similar units out there, this one successfully started my 2 litre diesel A6 which had a completely flat battery on an icy winters morning (car needed a new battery) and has been used to start my mates R1150 with a flat battery.
I have a Excide AGM on the RS and it will start on the coldest morning with no trouble, I think this is the best solution if you still have a traditional lead acid unit

Re: Battery Booster
Hi
that one is similar to mine (no 12v output) it would not start a completely flat battery on an 1800 merc. Next day after 1/2 charge in merc & full charge in Lidl pack it still would not start.
Previously it has started a 1000cc car and an airhead.

Re: Battery Booster
They don't last long really. If you want a good one then buy good RC power packs and make one but it will not be cheap.

Agreed they don't seem to last very long, I've have had no name ones off of eBay that haven't lasted 2 years in the past, which Is why I went for the Lidl and it's 3 year Gtee.

Re: Battery Booster
I got this one off ebay and it works great. It started a 2lt diesel car with a fully dead battery 16 times ok, and still had 70% showing. When it packs up I'll replace with another one.
