Anybody notice?

Postby Steve Rankin » Sat Aug 21, 2021 1:37 pm

Is it me or has anyone else noticed the quality of replacement parts coming from BMW dealers is not as high as it used to be?

For example, the driveshaft boot clamps for my 84 RT were inferior to the originals as well as units I purchased 15 years ago.

While I haven't ordered any bolts, I see pictures of replacement bolts in dealer's pages which are not as nicely finished as the original bolts on the bike. I mean rough compared to smooth plated.

Of course BMW would probably say, something along the lines of keeping the prices down, I haven't asked, but it does bug me to pay a high price for a part only to get cheap that is not equivalent to the part I am replacing. St.

Thank that is the same for everything.
No idea what "rubber" is made from these days but it cracks up in months, I've had "rubber" car parts disintegrate and fall on the floor and that is a car stored inside.
