Cheaper Diagnostics

Postby Mark Esposito » Wed Oct 27, 2021 9:00 pm

Hi all,

Just thought I'd post that the Nexas obd Bluetooth dongle that has full function capabilities unlike most generic dongles is down to £17 at Amazon.

NEXAS NexLink Bluetooth 5.0 OBDII Scanner for iPhone & Android & Windows, Diagnostic Code Reader Check Engine Light Smog Check Car Scan Tool for Vehicles After 1996 and Motorcycles Specially
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08BPC179W/ ... UTF8&psc=1

Which is the cheapest I've seen it.

If you add a cheap 10 pin to obd lead (only required for earlier bikes with the round diagnosis port) and the motoscan app you have a cheap powerful system that can do service resets and a massive amount more depending on the level of license of motoscan you buy.
App fee is a one off and it doesn't have vin number restrictions.

Cable only required for earlier bikes

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/10-Pin-To-16 ... 635-2958-0

Motoscan app

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... t.motoscan

Costs

Nexas dongle £17
Cable (if needed) £12
Motoscan app
Full version £35

Total. £64

There are cheaper lower levels of app licence if you don't need full functionality.

There are motoscan tutorials on YouTube.

The motoscan app gets updated and can do current models , you can also get a knock-off Chinese copy of the GS-911 for around £40 but it's only recommend for bikes up to 2010.

If you need the cable but are not in a hurry there are cheaper listings shipping from China on eBay and AliExpress.

Hi
less than the cost of taking it to a dealer just to scan the fault code status.

Without a doubt, with the price of the hardware coming down and the abilities of the motoscan app increasing its becoming a no brainer !
Even if you used it only for service reminder resets it's worth the money.

Back at £20 but still a steal for a full function Bluetooth obd dongle
