Well it looks like my riding for 2018 is over due to busting my wrist some weeks back while helping a neighbour  . Any how initial x-rays showed that my wrist was broken (knew that before I got to A&E), the medics did a good job of clarting me up in plaster. A further x-ray a few days later showed that radius bone had splintered a bit so back in for some 'engineering' to lock the broken bits together, (another good job by the medics) no problem or so I though.
Now I find after having the pins out it is worse than they and I thought.
The broken wrist has mended fine but, it seems that I have some nerve damage along with arthritis (I knew I had arthritis at the base of my thumb) but it is also affecting some of the other bones in my hand, I put that down to old age and years of spanner wrangling.
The nerve damage is affecting the use of my fingers on the left hand so things like clutch operation is a definite no-no at the moment and I can't feel hot or cold or when I touch anything. The lack of feeling comes and goes, (pins and needles) but it's making the fingers work that bugs me.
The medics reckon it'll take a couple of months to sort out with a combination of physio and rest, still it gets me out of washing dishes.
Thankfully it's my left arm so I can still lift a glass or two, (hate using my left hand especially when a drop of Hibernian Aqua Vita is involved, it doesn't taste the same). :drunken:
Hopefully by the time the cold season is over I'll be back in the saddle

I haven't been able to ride my bikes since December 2016 except for my sole ride to the Ayrshire coast last October.
There's still a long way to go with a heart operation due any time soon, but I hope to be aboard again before the end of 2018.

Bill,
Good to hear you intend getting back on the bike/s this year!
You must be about the oldest rider on the forum!

All the best for your forthcoming op.

You posted a while ago about the Malin Court hotel in Ayrshire - I am hoping to take Irene there for a couple of days this year (in the car) - it looks very good from their website.
She's not been well the last year but very much better now.

Hi Ced,
Thanks for your good wishes and good news about Irene. I didn't get to the Malin Court this year after all.
I was persuaded to have a broken tooth root out in readiness for my forthcoming operation. How disastrous that was!!!

After a continual gum bleed for 4 days I was admitted to hospital after a 999 call suffering from severe blood loss and convulsions. The heart op. has also been put further back so I won't be riding this year at least

Hi Bill,

You've been through the mill with your health problems - hopefully you are feeling better and with a bit of rest will get back on your feet again for next year.

I haven't taken Irene to the Malin Court yet but it is on the cards for a future break.

Take it easy and enjoy the forthcoming festive season.
Ced.

How's it going K.C.? With any luck by now you will at least be able to bear weight on your leg.

Sorry, total senior moment there. Didn't read the dates of the original post or the other 10 pages! My post is totally irrelevant so please ignore it.

Yes I can walk reasonably well..Or hobble anyway....I've come to the conclusion that it's time to sell the bike because it's just not getting used at all.....Blue skies,KC.
