Bank Vole

Postby boxerman » Mon Jun 25, 2018 9:43 pm

Well, I haven't seen my friendly Bank Vole at the woods for some time but whenever I throw sandwich crusts for him you hear the rustling under the leaves and crusts disappear. Today I saw my crust being eaten and it looks like my Vole may be no more as a Shrew was enjoying it....

I have rats the size of small cats in my garden. Not much I can do about it, and as long as they don't bother me , I wouldn't really want to. Matlock Bath is heavily wooded, but paradoxically extremely busy with fish and chip munching visitors. The rats have a field day with all those leftovers!

They're getting fairly scarce these days.

Terrific pic John!

I lived for many years in a riverfront house in Devon. Over a decade I saw the voles disappear as mink moved in - tragic.
